MET-RX Worlds Strongest Baby

Hope you have all been watching the MET-RX Worlds Strongest Man on TV over the Xmas period. I bet not many of you realised that the Worlds Strongest Baby is also being heavily contested at the moment. If you think the men have it bad having to pull a truck along, just spare a thought for the babies - they have to physically lift the truck!!!!!!! As you can see below this posed no problems for super strong Joshie.

Wickmas 2008

Here are a few more pictures from Wickmas 2008. Check out the posh shirt below. After opening about 50 presents with Joshua I can now confirm that he is getting the hang of ripping into the wrapping paper.

"Look at these new clothes which I got for Xmas............."

A bit of balloon fun.

Look at all those mega blocks. Now Dad can build even bigger towers for Joshua to destroy.

Since Joshie got so many toys for Xmas we decided to buy this nice little Disney Cars toy box to store some of them in. Little did I realise that Joshua would use it as a climbing frame and a seat. I thought that by putting it in front of the bay window I would stop him getting to the blinds - WRONG!. Instead he just climbed onto the box, then on to the window sill, and then he crawled behind the tree!!!!

Moving the box in front of the sofa wasn't much better. This just provided an easy step onto the sofa and also a nice comfy play seat!

In all the excitement about Joshua's second Xmas I forgot to add an quick update on J2 (can you beblieve Job #1 date is now only around 6 weeks away????). On Xmas Eve we visited the midwife to have the usual check ups plus listen to the babies heart beat. Everything is going well and the baby is growing nicely and is very very active! J2 is already in a head down position so maybe the second baby is as keen to come out early or on time as Joshua was. The next visit is in 2 weeks time when we will arrange a date for a 36 week scan.

Merry Xmas from a very happy little boy.

Tate Baby

Only 1 day left till Xmas...............

Joshua will now finish nursery for a week over the Xmas period. Yesterday they sent home his end of year art file and it looks like the little man has been very busy. So much so that we could consider opening the Tate Baby Modern Art Gallery. The pictures below show some of his work (all pieces are open to bids). The first picture shows the Xmas hat which he made for their party.

And who said there will not be snow this Xmas. We have our first snow flake............

Tomorrow (Xmas Eve) is another visit to the midwife to see how J2 is coming along and to also book an appointment for the 36 week scan. Once Xmas is out of the way I think this second baby is going to come around very quickly indeed.

Baby Shower

Remember Joshua's baby shower all that time ago? Who can believe that the little guy was 14 months old last week. Well for today's blog update he are some snaps of the little dude having a proper shower. Joshua really enjoys showers as he usually has a couple every week after we go swimming. However this weekend he climbed into our shower cubicle for the first time, so we decided to let him have his first shower at home.

Only 4 days till Xmas................................

Tumble Town

Well yet again Joshua has been ill this week. The last 2-3 days he has hardly eaten anything and is constantly being sick. He seems fine in himself and is lively and active, he just can't keep any food or milk down. Needless to say it has been another challenging week what with all the cleaning of clothes, changes of cot sheets etc. Seems like the poor lad is in the wars lately. Firstly he was ill after his MMR, then he started getting a new tooth coming though, and now he is sick again. Still at least he will get most of it out of the way before Xmas.

On a positive note after visiting Auntie Lisa at the fencing club on Sunday we went and joined Tumble Town with Joshua. As you can see from the pictures below he seemed to have a fun time despite not being 100%.

I think Joshua might have also got a glimpse of the Andrex toilet roll advert at some stage because his latest trick is to sneak into the toilets and unravel as much toilet roll as possible!!!!

Young Jedi Warrior

This morning we took Joshua over to Chelmsford to watch Auntie Lisa in a fencing competition against a club from Wickford. This was a great opportunity for young Jedi JJ to start to learn the ways of the light sabre.
"Now Master JJ, you must stay away from the dark side...........the force is strong in you!".
"Dad!!! Put one of these on my Xmas list to Santa".

Joshua wearing a fencing mask to protect those handsome good looks which he has inherited. A true Jedi doesn't need to see where they are going anyway!

Christmas Party

Today Joshua had his Nursery Christmas Party. The nursery hired out an entertainer from PartyMan and set-up upstairs in one of the gym studios. Basically all the kids pretty much just run riot for 2 hours. Great for Joshie though as he worked up a good appetite and tired himself out big time. So fingers crossed we are in for a good nights sleep. I managed to slip out of work 30 mins early so that I got to see the last bit of the party and then take him back down to the nursery room for some party food. Anyway here are a few snaps Tina took of the little guy doing his thing.............

"Come on wimps, why are you all sitting down................lets run riot".

Joshua trying to impress the ladies with his new shirt and a little boogie time.

All that running around and dancing soon started to take its toll though.............

But after the party it was downstairs for a big plate of party food. Joshua seems to have a major feeding problem...............Its called having 2 hands but only 1 mouth! Needless to say he was first to finish his plate and leave the table - despite being the last one to arrive at the table!!!! I wonder where he could get the speed eating from?????

Christmas Party Soon....

Joshua is really getting into the Christmas spirit now. As you can see from below he has taken a real liking to our Christmas train which is in the front garden. Also yesterday he made his Christmas party hat at nursery all ready for his first Christmas Party which is this Friday.

Fingers crossed the little guy is now over the side effects from his MMR - touch wood there has been no sick for about 3 days now (phew). You can tell from the picture below that he is back to his usual inquisitive self. Surely its only a matter of time before I find a little pair of legs hanging out of the washing machine. Its such a big exciting world for him to explore……….so much mischief to get up to!

Is Joshua bound for a desk job one day in the future??? He seems quite at home sitting at his little table and chairs and playing with his toys.

Adventus

Adventus is the Latin word which advent is derived from and basically means "arrival". Advent is the time of waiting for the arrival of Christmas, the coming of Jesus to earth when he was born as a baby in Bethlehem about 2000 years ago. Well with all that history it is nice to see Joshua is fully into the spirit of advent. Within 3 days of December the little boy recognised his advent calendars and understood that there are chocolates behind the doors. Now it has become a routine that after dinner we sit on the bean bag and open the next days door. Usually Joshua grabs the white chocolate and then scuttles off with a big grin on his face.

The little monkey has also mastered the knack of pulling items off of the Christmas tree. Tonight he managed to nab his first chocolate off of the tree and unwrap it himself!!!! Unfortunately he started to eat the wrapper without realising the brown bit inside was a choccie!

The bad news for today is that progress on Joshie's penthouse suite has been temporarily delayed. Good old Basildon Council have decided that we need to get full planning permission in addition to building and reg approval. This is going to take 8 weeks!!! Apparently when the estate was build the council made some agreement that anyone putting windows into the roof or walls must apply for planning approval. I guess the chances of getting the building done before the arrival of J2 is now ZERO!

MMRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Seems like a long time since I last updated Joshua's blog - but theres a good reason. Just over a week ago he had his one year booster jab plus his MMR. They advise you that there can be side effects between 8-10 days after the jabs and boy have we had them. Pretty much constant sickness for a week and in between that the little man has been burning up. So instead of spending spare time taking pictures and writing this blog, I have been changing cot sheets, endless amounts of washing, dis-infecting carpets etc.etc.etc.........

Anyway since Joshua is a little under the weather we had a pleasant day today just pottering around the house. We managed to get some nice pictures of Joshua sitting at his own little table and chairs eating his cheese on toast.

Hummm, who has the biggest bite - Mummy or Joshie?

Yuuuummmm, tasty tasty cheese on toast.

And for pud it was a nice plate of chopped fresh fruit (the little guy had a fight on his hands to eat this before Daddy did).

And after all that eating it is time to throw the clothes (and Joshie) into the washing machine for a quick clean-up!
