The Cube @ Beavers

Last week at Beavers we were at a bit of a loss what to do with the kids and came up with the idea of doing "The Cube" night. So we planned out various challenges similar to the TV show such as bouncing the ball into a bucket, walking a line blind folded etc.etc. Probably the best challenge though was the ball swap challenge. Basically they had 10 yellow balls in one bucket and 10 blue in the other. Then picking a yellow in one hand and a blue in the other that had to swap all the balls into the opposite buckets two at a time in the quickest time. It was pretty amazing watching some of the kids really concentrating hard and finding this challenge really hard after about the first 3-4 balls.

Some of the kids just couldn't get the co-ordination going. But others were amazingly very good at this and in fact the quickest time from a 7 year old was an impressive 13 seconds. The night ran really well and the kids absolutely loved the challenges. Once everyone had done all of the challenges they all wanted to see the leaders have a go at the ball sway game and one of the other leaders clocked an impressive 10.4 seconds. But then I was last up and as always I showed everyone why I am the boss and so competitive with a blistering 8.3 seconds.

Outside of Beavers I am still working hard with both the boys football teams and Brandon's U7's team are on a bit of a roll right now with 2 wins from their last two games. Today they played Southendian Manor at home and won 4-1. Brandon scored a great goal from midfield and could have had another two to his name. At one point he took the keeper on and had an open goal, but then hit the post and the ball rolled out. The team changed slightly for today as we have lost Harry and now have a new boy Joshua who has joined the team to bring is back to being 7 strong.

After football today we had to head in to town to do a bit of shopping and decided on the way home to take a look at the Summerhill Xmas display. They have got some really really good Christmas stuff in there this year and as always the displays are really good. The boys both bought a pair of magic Christmas glasses that turn lights into either Father Christmas or a Reindeer. Its really amazing to look at a Christmas tree whilst wearing them, or even better wearing them whilst driving a car and seeing all the street lights and other cars lights turn into Santa or a reindeer.
