SpiderMan

Joshua has reached that stage where everything is a climbing frame and he is getting pretty good at climbing. It all started over the Xmas break where the little guy managed to climb onto the sofa all by himself. This progressed onto his toy boxes and as you can see from the pictures below he soon moved onto Daddies TV/Hi-fi cabinet. This is a major problem as it now puts the little guy in touching distance of the 42" plasma!!!!!!!

To get down from the unit is easy, a simple nose dive onto the bean bag which was strategically positioned to stop him from climbing on the unit in the first place (very unsuccessfully).

Safety First

I recently read that some 500 babies/toddlers are administered to A&E every year due to heavy toilet seats falling down and either squashing fingers (or even worse winkies). Since Joshua is at the age where he s curious about everything then the latest safety feature to be installed in our house is some soft close toilet seats. Better to be safe than sorry.

I have also just encountered another problem with little people - IRONING. I'll be the first to admit that we hardly iron any of Joshua's clothes. However he has a few nice shirts and these do need ironing. Well have you ever tried ironing a little mans shirt using a big mans iron (not easy). I think a small travel iron might be the order of the day to solve this problem.

Anyway the Xmas break is now over and its back to work for me and Tina tomorrow and back to nursery for Joshua. I've really enjoyed the two weeks off and have tried to do as much as possible with Joshua. As today was our last day off we went to see Space Chimps at the cinema this morning and then this afternoon went over to Partyman again. So here are some more piccies from Partyman.

Disney CARS

Well the growth spurt continues...............of course there is one major down side to the amount of food Joshua is now consuming and that is the amount of pooey nappies he is generating. Before Xmas he would normally do 2 poos a day and if we were lucky both of these would be whilst at nursery. Since finishing nursery for his Xmas break he has suddenly started doing at least 4 poos a day!!! And you can bet your bottom dollar that he does at least 3 of them straight after you have just changed him and put on a clean nappy!!!

Over the Xmas period Joshua has learnt some more words - he started off by walking around shouting "beerbeerbeer" to which we kept replying "no beer". So he then started walking around saying "bitterbitterbitter"!!!! Anyway Xmas is now nearly over, the decs came down today and the house is almost back to normal with the exception of all Joshua's presents. You may have noticed a common them of Disney Pixar CARS featuring in a lot of his presents. Well today's pictures show some more of these items with his dressing gown from Auntie Lisa and Uncle David and the pillow from Emily.

My god!!!!!!!!! Just looked at the J2 counter - can you believe it is now only 42 days away!!!!!!!

What A Cracker

The little guy would appear to be having a growth spurt right now as he is eating us out of house and home. However I am not complaining as it is nice to see the little guy eating so well though. Today he tried cheese cake for the first time and absolutely loved it - this was after he had eaten a whole plate of Daddies home made lamb hotpot.

Anyway the picture below shows Joshua in Joshua in his Christmas bib for 2008.

And this was the little guy attempting to pull some crackers with Mum and Dad.

Notice Joshua's nice new Lighting McQueen bowl on the table (this was part of his Xmas present from Auntie Nicky, Uncle Paul,

This is a rare picture of Joshua briefly wearing a hat from a Christmas cracker. He really doesn't like these much and pulls them off and rips them to bits in not time at all.

Happy New Year 2009

Joshua would like to thank all of his readers and wish everyone a prosperous new year. 2009 will prove to be a very interesting year for Joshua as he tackles the terrible twos and adapts to life with a younger brother or sister. Staying up until midnight last night was just too much for the little man and he only made it until about 9pm and was then zonked. But he had a really active evening playing with his friends Millie and Joaben. So this is how he saw the new year in............

Joshua is now also getting very handy with his spoon at the dinner table and is quite happy feeding himself yogurts, mash potato, porridge etc.etc. Of course his throwing hand is still dominant and plenty of food ends up all over the kitchen. But he is making progress.

MET-RX Worlds Strongest Baby

Hope you have all been watching the MET-RX Worlds Strongest Man on TV over the Xmas period. I bet not many of you realised that the Worlds Strongest Baby is also being heavily contested at the moment. If you think the men have it bad having to pull a truck along, just spare a thought for the babies - they have to physically lift the truck!!!!!!! As you can see below this posed no problems for super strong Joshie.

Wickmas 2008

Here are a few more pictures from Wickmas 2008. Check out the posh shirt below. After opening about 50 presents with Joshua I can now confirm that he is getting the hang of ripping into the wrapping paper.

"Look at these new clothes which I got for Xmas............."

A bit of balloon fun.

Look at all those mega blocks. Now Dad can build even bigger towers for Joshua to destroy.

Since Joshie got so many toys for Xmas we decided to buy this nice little Disney Cars toy box to store some of them in. Little did I realise that Joshua would use it as a climbing frame and a seat. I thought that by putting it in front of the bay window I would stop him getting to the blinds - WRONG!. Instead he just climbed onto the box, then on to the window sill, and then he crawled behind the tree!!!!

Moving the box in front of the sofa wasn't much better. This just provided an easy step onto the sofa and also a nice comfy play seat!

In all the excitement about Joshua's second Xmas I forgot to add an quick update on J2 (can you beblieve Job #1 date is now only around 6 weeks away????). On Xmas Eve we visited the midwife to have the usual check ups plus listen to the babies heart beat. Everything is going well and the baby is growing nicely and is very very active! J2 is already in a head down position so maybe the second baby is as keen to come out early or on time as Joshua was. The next visit is in 2 weeks time when we will arrange a date for a 36 week scan.

Tate Baby

Only 1 day left till Xmas...............

Joshua will now finish nursery for a week over the Xmas period. Yesterday they sent home his end of year art file and it looks like the little man has been very busy. So much so that we could consider opening the Tate Baby Modern Art Gallery. The pictures below show some of his work (all pieces are open to bids). The first picture shows the Xmas hat which he made for their party.

And who said there will not be snow this Xmas. We have our first snow flake............

Tomorrow (Xmas Eve) is another visit to the midwife to see how J2 is coming along and to also book an appointment for the 36 week scan. Once Xmas is out of the way I think this second baby is going to come around very quickly indeed.

Baby Shower

Remember Joshua's baby shower all that time ago? Who can believe that the little guy was 14 months old last week. Well for today's blog update he are some snaps of the little dude having a proper shower. Joshua really enjoys showers as he usually has a couple every week after we go swimming. However this weekend he climbed into our shower cubicle for the first time, so we decided to let him have his first shower at home.

Only 4 days till Xmas................................

Tumble Town

Well yet again Joshua has been ill this week. The last 2-3 days he has hardly eaten anything and is constantly being sick. He seems fine in himself and is lively and active, he just can't keep any food or milk down. Needless to say it has been another challenging week what with all the cleaning of clothes, changes of cot sheets etc. Seems like the poor lad is in the wars lately. Firstly he was ill after his MMR, then he started getting a new tooth coming though, and now he is sick again. Still at least he will get most of it out of the way before Xmas.

On a positive note after visiting Auntie Lisa at the fencing club on Sunday we went and joined Tumble Town with Joshua. As you can see from the pictures below he seemed to have a fun time despite not being 100%.

I think Joshua might have also got a glimpse of the Andrex toilet roll advert at some stage because his latest trick is to sneak into the toilets and unravel as much toilet roll as possible!!!!

Young Jedi Warrior

This morning we took Joshua over to Chelmsford to watch Auntie Lisa in a fencing competition against a club from Wickford. This was a great opportunity for young Jedi JJ to start to learn the ways of the light sabre.
"Now Master JJ, you must stay away from the dark side...........the force is strong in you!".
"Dad!!! Put one of these on my Xmas list to Santa".

Joshua wearing a fencing mask to protect those handsome good looks which he has inherited. A true Jedi doesn't need to see where they are going anyway!
