Weigh Day

Joshua was weighed again today and I am pleased to report that things are starting to look up now that he is on solids. He weighed in at 15lb 12oz (up from 14lb 14oz) last time. However I have to say that I really feel sorry for the little man as his body adjusts to the solids - he seems to be having a little trouble passing at times. He sits there going very red faced and squeezing for all he is worth only to get a tiny little poo out!!

But he is eating well. More and more flavours are being introduced and now he is having apple and pear for breakfast, his rusk and milk for lunch and the butternut squash and peas for dinner (plus all his milk feeds in between).

I'm Back............

Hope you all haven't missed the blog updates too much, sorry for the absence but work had me back out in the Czech Republic again this week. Anyway if you missed the blog as much as I missed Joshua, then you will enjoy these pictures for sure.

Joshua posing with his new camera that Uncle Michael bought him for Easter.

And here is his new fire engine that Daddy brought back from Czech Republic.

On top of the world...............well Uncle David's shoulders at least!

As well as pureed fruit and veg for breakfast and dinner, we have started feeding Joshua a Rusk soaked in milk for lunch. As you can see from the picture below, this is a very fun, clean, experience!!!

I like driving in my car, its not quite a Jaguar!

And finally baby Joshua with the birthday boy (Uncle Michael) on his 30th.

Cups!

Every child growing up has to have some stacking cups - so Joshua got a set as a little Easter present since we knew he would receive far too much in the way of chocolate eggs.
"Hum, how do I reach the top to stack the green cup, oh never mind, I'll just eat it instead!"

"Phew, that was hard work building that tower, best I have a rest and lay down for a while!"

And if you thought I was joking about too many chocolate eggs for Easter - then look at the picture below. Somewhere amongst that lot is our son!

Happy Easter from JJ

Yesterday we took Joshua for some professional photo's and this gave me some inspiration to be a bit more creative with my own photography. So today it was out with some old curtains, a few lamps and the good old Sepia setting on the camera. The end result didn't come out too badly if you ask me. So happy Easter from we three King's.

A few other updates - well firstly as you have gathered from one of the pictures above Joshua has found his feet and loves playing with them. Tonight he even managed to suck his big toe whilst in the bath! Secondly Joshua tried butternut squash for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved it, devouring a whole pot for his evening dinner. Thirdly, the latest trick of Joshie's is to make a clucking type of noise with his tongue, at first it was very funny and cute, but sometimes he just doesn't stop and it soon gets a little annoying!!! Finally I can report that he is getting closer and closer to sitting up on his own - at the moment he is a bit like a weeble.

5 Months Old Today

Doesn't time fly - who would believe that the little dude is 5 months old today!!!!

Anyway before I reveal Joshua's first finger food experience, I thought I would share with you another marvellous development. You see at school I recall a physics lesson where we learnt the difference between solids, liquids and gasses and their molecular structure. Well when you have a baby, you realise that there is actually a 4th category called semi-solids! I think you all know where this is going................yes you guessed it, now that the little guy is starting to tuck into some "proper" food his poo has taken a semi-solid state - and man does it stink!!!!

So now that you have nice visions of semi solid baby poo - onto the finger food. Well I can reveal that the first finger was......................any guesses..............it could only be one thing..................yes, it was a Farley's Rusk. As you can see from the pictures below, the little guy loved gumming half a Rusk away. He managed to get gooey Rusk just about everywhere - even in his ear. He still seemed to have bits of Rusk stuck on his face even after two face washes. But the good news is that the packet of Rusk's are now open and that means only one thing - yes, Dad can start stealing them as well, yum yum!!!!

"So whats this they have given me to put in my gob"

"Hum, I mustn't forget to get some of the Rusk stuck in my ear!"

"Arrrgh, so thats why it is called finger food"

"Now you see it!" "Now you don't!"

"Hummmmmmmm, that was scrummy!"

Bouncy Bouncy

Still experimenting with the foods for Joshua. He didn't seem to like apple on Saturday and pulled all sorts of funny faces probably due to the sharpness. The sweet potato has mixed reactions, he is eating it but not as nicely as the pear. Also check out the blog later this week for pictures of Joshua tucking into his first finger food - what could it be?

Joshua also recently received some mothercare vouchers as an incentive for choosing the particular child trust fund we have selected. So we went out shopping this weekend to spend his vouchers and decided to get him one of those door bouncers along with a new play mat. He absolutely loves the door bouncer and jumps up and down and twists himself around.

Uncle Michael is officially banned from Wick Palace whilst Joshua is still old enough to fit into this bouncer - I have visions of him pinging the little man from ceiling to ceiling - "from here to infinity and beyond"!!!!

A Ladies Man

Joshua was weighed again earlier this week and showed an improvement to 14lb 14oz. Despite being an increase in weight, he has actually dropped down another curve on the growth chart. The health visitor was a little concerned until Tina explained the poor lads sickness and diarrhea last week. She said he should bounce back from this pretty quickly.

Anyway it looks like Joshua has started young with the ladies, on Tuesday of last week Tina had a visit from one of her work friends (Emma) with her baby girl (Amy) who is 2 months older than Joshua. As you can see from the picture below it was love at first site!

Humm, does Amy wanted Joshua or his toy?????

After all that play its time for an afternoon power nap.

World Gym Challenge

You will be pleased to hear that Joshua has started out early in his campaign to avoid the ever increasing childhood obesity thing and follow his old man with a keen interest in sport. On Sunday we was down in Gillingham for the WorldGymChallenge X-training Trials and despite me putting in the fastest time of the day, Joshua decided he would show Dad just how to do this stuff properly. For his first competition the little man was very impressive and put in some stunning times. The crowd cheered him on all the way. Joshua even managed to get his picture on the worldgymchallenge.com website!!!!! If you have a look at this website then just click on latest news and scroll down to March the 9th. Anyway here are some pictures of Joshua in his first X-training competition.........

It all started with a tough 2k bike.
Then it was onto 50 full sit-ups.

A 750m row was next, the little man had to lay down on the seat as he isn't quite able to sit up on his own just yet.
The shoulder press proved to be tough as the little guy kept hitting the dumbbell on the back of the bench where he is so short.
The bench press was awesome, Dad was just spotting the little guy in case he dropped the bar. Personally I don't think Joshua's bench press should count as his arms are so short he hardly has to move the bar!!!!

It was agreed with the organisers that Joshua would be excluded from the run on the basis that it would be a bit unfair since he cannot even walk yet!
After all that exercise it was time to just collapse on the floor for a rest - but still smiling.

Like father like son, only Dad collapsed after finishing on the treadmill, and was not smiling!!!

5 A Day

Hi all, another break through today - since Joshua is really not enjoying the baby rice and he is now over all of his illnesses from last week, today we decided to try him on some steamed pears which were then pureed. The little boy seemed to love it and lapped up the whole serving for his dinner tonight. This was the first real time that all 3 of us sat at the dinner table and ate together as well.

Also since he has been poorly this week, we spoilt the little man to some new toys. Firstly the very simply ring stacker which he seems to enjoy playing with a lot.....

And then we saw this baby activity centre which was the last of a line and marked up at half price. Bargain! At the moment Joshua is a little scared of the lobster and the noise the ship makes, but otherwise he seems to like it.

Radio Silence

Apologies to all the blog readers for the recent "radio silence". Last week Joshua had a bit of a chest infection and was coughing and sneezing a lot. This problem was compounded mid week when he also cough a case of diarrhea and vomiting. We started getting really concerned about him on Wednesday and ended up spending 3 hours in Accident and Emergency as the local doctors were all shut due to staff training. Anyway after seeing a GP, Joshua was prescribed a course of antibiotics for the chest infection, some sickness medicine for the vomiting and diarrhea and some Dioraltyte to ensure he was getting enough fluids into his system.

So he has been a very poorly boy for the last 3 days and this in turn has been very demanding on me and Tina. Not only are we not sleeping much but we have to constantly make sure he is taking on fluids and his medications. On top of all this is the constant nappy changes, cot bedding changes, clothing changes, getting wash loads done etc.etc. all as a result of the projectile vomiting and the runs!!! Touch wood the little fella is almost back to his usual self though and you should see some more regular blog updates next week.

Anyway here are a few older pics and a video file of Joahua in his baby walker.

More feed time.........

This spoon tastes a lot better than my baby rice, mind you the little guy keeps poking himself in the eye with it!!!

But it always end in smiles..................
