Caister Day 3 Africa Alive

Day 3 of holiday took us to Africa Alive given that both boys had been constantly nagging for "animals". Africa Alive is an absolutely fantastic animal park which really captures the true essence of the African Savannah's. The park may not have the quantity of animals that some other zoo's boast, but where the park exceeds its competition is the quality. I would go as far as to say that some of the enclosures are the best animal habitats I have seen. Anyway the first thing to greet you upon entering the park is the Kingdom of the Lion.

As you can see the boys managed to get up real close to some very amazing, and very large females. I think the pride had about 6 or 7 females and one male.

This is the view from the lookout tower and you can see the male to the right of the big log.

And then he decided to stand tall and proud for his audience.

Here is Joshua playing some African bongos.

After the Lions we saw some gazelles and cheaters before moving onto the Rhinos. Again amazing animals and both Joshua and Brandon were fascinated by these beasts.

The actual central area of the park is a bog open setting which has free roaming zebras, rhinos, giraffes and some ostrich.

Here is both boys watching the zebras.

Brandon is fixated on the view.

No real reason for the next picture other than I think it is a nice photo of yet another African beast.

The boys got to watch the giraffes feeding.

And then probably the highlight for the boys was their train ride around the park. This was a really cool tour which covered virtually the whole park and gave plenty of details about all of the animals.

All four of us on the train.

The proud boys posing on the train.

After visiting tropical wings a week ago and now Africa Alive, Joshua is getting very familiar with the meerkats.

This part of the park was funny. A full size dummy cow with mock milking teats for kids to practice. As you squeeze them water squirted out.
Joshua found it very amusing but kept asking why the moo cow had four winkies!

Squeeeeze.........

Brandon soon got the idea after watching his bigger brother.

Another really nice feature of the park is the open Lemur enclosure which you can walk through and get to within inches of these beautiful animals.

As you can see this little fellow was keeping a close eye on Joshua and Brandon.

This was the kids learning area and Brandon was exploring all the spiders and snakes.

Then to end the visit there was yet another indoor soft play area which proved difficult to get the boys out of. Still it was a good chance for Mum and Dad to chill out with a coffee before the journey home.

Read about Day 4 tomorrow which involved some football, yet more soft play and Joshua's first ever go-kart ride (two guesses what he now wants for his 3rd birthday next month).
