Day 2 Butlins Minehead

Day 2 of our holiday was probably our most exhausting day as we pretty much blitzed the activities from the moment the boys awoke, to the time they went to bed. The day started early visiting the nursery area where the boys embarked on some messy play. This involved getting your hands down and dirty in a big trough angel delight and corn flour. Joshua loved the messy play as you can see below.

The chuckle is because he just flicked soggy corn flour all over me!

Brandon wasn't too interested in the messy play and instead opted to just play with the slide and the other nursery toys.

After the messy play we hit the swimming pool. Kind of made sense as it filled the gap between mid morning and lunch, plus it got the boys all cleaned up after their messy play. Before getting lunch we found this rather light inflatable half moon type of bouncy castle.

Poor Brandon struggled to get on top and when any other kids ran past him or bounced on the inflatable he was rocketed up to the moon!

After lunch the boys watched their first show of the week and of course it was none other than Fireman Sam. For Joshua this is pretty much the equivalent of me watching Chris Eubank fight - needless to say he was glued to the show.

After the show the two boys got to meet their hero and have a picture taken.

After the show we went outside to explore the fairground. Joshua immediately requested to go on the go-karts and touch wood he was about 1mm above the minimum height limit (as you can see his head is barely visible in the kart. He absolutely loved these babies and we had the thing floored around the complete circuit.

Brandon was very disappointed not to be able to go on the karts, so as I compromise we took him on the bumper boats. These were an absolute blast as you could ram into each other causing a mini tsunami to soak the other boats.

We then moved inside again to explore Bob The Builder World. Fortunately the rides here were free and thank god they were as this pretty much became our second home for the week (the other one being the swimming pool).

There were trains............

There were automobiles.....

There were planes..........

Yet more cars...........

And then finally the boys posing with a giant Bob The Builder.

Later in the evening we hit the arcades and the small ride on vehicles. How cool is this little Bigfoot vehicle the boys drove,

And right next to the arcades was a really good soft play area. Both boys managed to climb all the way to the very top. Look closely in the tube and you can see the two little monkeys. Believe it or not this is about 25ft up in the air.

After all that activity we all needed a bit of a rest and decided to have a sit down in a deck chair. Honey I shrunk the kids............

To finish the day off we took a leisurely walk along Minehead beach and what a nice beach it is too.

Brandon was a bit bemused as he is not used to go on beaches where there are not hundreds of stones/shells which he can throw!

You can see the Butlins Sky Pavilion in the background of this picture. So nice and close to the beach, just cross the road and you are on sand.

Don't be too impressed by this sand castle and moat. It was pre-built by someone else earlier in the day. The boys simply took to work and destroyed it in seconds.

Check back for Day 3 with an amazing day out at Longleat and some stories about some rather naughty monkeys.
