Beaver Family Camp 2015 Day 1

This weekend I had an awesome time away with my two boys at he 2014/15 Beavers Family Camp at Beauchamps Activity Centre in Southend. The weather wasn't kind as it absolutely bucketed down Friday night and then again all day Sunday. But we did have a glorious Saturday and overall the weather ruin our weekend in anyway. If anything it made it more of an adventure.

I took the day off of work so that we could get the car loaded up with all the camping gear and get to the site for 3pm sharp to get set-up. This turned out to be the best decision of the day as we were first there which meant not only did we get prime spot right next the mess tent and under the shelter of a tree, but we also managed to get pitched up before the heavens opened. From parking to being fully pitched only took us 1 hour and Joshua was an absolute star with his help.

Car loaded and me and the boys all ready in our new 2014/15 Beaver Camp t-shirts.

Thanks to Joshua's help we were all pitched up in an hour and had prime location. Doing my Mum's old tent proud.

Bedrooms sorted and time to go and explore the site.

Let the adventure begin..........

The large mess tents start taking shape right outside our tent.

In the play area / den they had various games and activities to keep the kiddies entertained. Me and the boys played a little game of 3D snakes and ladders but Brandon spent what seemed like hours doing loom bands and making loads of bracelets and necklaces!!

Once everyone was pitched up we enjoyed our first camp meal which was jacket potatoes loaded with beans, cheese, tuna and loads of salad. This was then washed down with the most delicious bit of apple pie. Brandon's Beaver leader, David (aka Eagle), did most of the cooking over the weekend and what a great job he did. We all had to take out own mess bags with plates, bowls, cutlery, cups etc. Tina bought me and the boys these school dinner type trays which we absolutely perfect for the camp.

Joshua having a later night welly walk around the camp site in the rain.

We got pitched up just in time, but you can see just how wet it was. Some 22 tents for the Beavers plus the mess tents and the log cabins!!!

Testing the torches as Brandon goes for a late night wood walk to see if we can find any wildlife.

Not quite sure why Joshua bothered with the umbrella as he seems to manage to get so wet and dirty anyway!

After a long day we finally get to bed about 10pm. A quick selfie of me and my boys.

Joshua didn't have a great nights sleep as he woke at 3am and then 6am to go to the toilet. Of course once he wakes at 6am there is no chance of him going back to sleep. So an early start for me. Brandon on the other hand was absolutely shattered so me and Joshua went to make a morning coffee and hot chocolate and we let Brandon sleep in until around 7am (then he was woken by an alarm caused by someone burning breakfast!).
Lazy bones Brandon sleeping in until around 7am.

More blog updates for Day 2 and 3 to follow with some fantastic pictures of karting, wall climbing, water rollerz and archery to name a few.
