Newquay Day 4 - Oasis Pool and Fistral Beach

After two very tiring days of being out and about we decided that the kids and both of us needed a bit of a down day to recover. So after a good sleep and some breakfast bacon butties cooked by yours truly, we had a day on site where we spent the morning in the Oasis indoor pool again. Late afternoon the sun was showing signs of popping out so we then headed down to Fistral Beach for a spot of lunch and to play on the sand.

2 days earlier Fistral beach was the site of two fatalities where a father and son where fishing on some rocks and were pulled out to sea by a freak wave. The family of 5 were tragically reduced down to 3 and subsequently the RNLI beach watch was particularly strict and rightly so. With poor visibility and winds there was only a small section of the beach open for body boarders and bathers and of course Joshua wanted to be one of them. He was under very strict instructions to go no deeper than waist height, check he was always within the lifeguard flags and to also look up at me watching over him each time he turned back to face the beach.

Me and Brandon mean while had a good game of beach badminton and beach bowls with Holly and also made some more sand castles. The weather wasn't great, but it didn't stop us from having fun and then finishing off with a nice Cornish ice cream. Once we got back to base we all cleaned up, had some dinner and then it was back to the arcades for Holly to spend Daddy's money.

Rise and shine, me up and about cooking bacon butties on camp.

Holly took a real liking to these hydrangea plants. She loved the fell of them and kept saying they were pretty and smelt nice.

Holly going down her mini slide in the Oasis pool.

Splash down.

The view down on the lazy river from the queue up on the slides. Josh and Brandon were down there somewhere I think.

Holly all set on my lap and ready to come down the green slide.

Chuckling away as we set off and start building up speed.

Down the tube we race.

And splash out at the bottom.

Brandon coming out of the rather tight and pretty fast red slide.

Again the 2 boys having a power shower by the tap.

Taking shade from the wind at Fistral beach with a giant sized sandal.

Poor visibility on the beach to start with, so we played beach badminton.

Joshua and Holly building some sand castles.

Visibility started to clear up and Joshua ventured in to the sea again.

Good waves for a bit of body boarding.

The beach at Fistral.

Where have Holly's legs gone???

And Brandon getting legless on the beach.

Mid afternoon and the weather started to improve and the beach started to fill up.

As always the sunning view of the coastline in Cornwall.

At the end of our down day, Holly enjoys spending some more 2p's in the arcades.
