Christmas Ice Skating

After Holly got to witness the ice skating at the O2 earlier this week we decided to take the kiddies ice skating at the Chelmsford ice skating rink. After all Christmas isn't really Christmas if you don't go ice skating. The boys have both been several times before and are fairly confident on the ice, but this was to be Holly's first taste of ice skating and she absolutely loved it.

Tina took Holly around for her first lap using one of the balance penguins. I think Tina was pretty unsteady herself and the lap was very slow leaving Holly unimpressed. After 1 lap she wanted to go and sit down! So in steps Dad and I took her out for a few laps getting her to keep her feet straight so I could guide her along much quicker. She absolutely loved this and kept shouting "faster, faster!". She had two little falls on the ice but on both occasions she had a smile on her face. After a while I managed to get her using the penguin on her own without me guiding it and then at the end of the session we lost the penguin all together and she did a few laps holding on to mine and Joshua's hands. Absolutely amazing for her first ice skating.

The two boys also did absolutely amazing this time. They have grown so much in confidence and where both getting some good speed, turns and control. Cocky little Brandon was even getting a few 360 turns in!!! They both had multiple falls and will probably have a few bruises, but they enjoyed the experience.

After the ice skating we finished the day off with a cheeky McDonals and then headed home.

Skates on and armed with a penguin ready for Holly's first ice skating experience.

Tina takes Holly around for her first lap but looks a bit unsteady herself.

Time for Daddy to step in and get some speed skating going. She's already got a big grin on her face.

Joshua looking cool and confident. His troubled knee didn't seem to bother him.

Super confident Brandon is a natural on the ice and was even doing 360 degree spins.

Picture of my two boys skating together.

Me and the kiddies enjoying a great couple of hours at the ice skating rink.

Me guiding Holly along as she screams "faster, faster".

Holly was getting so confident and enjoying herself that she wanted to try on her own.

So off she went, ice skating solo with the support of her penguin.

Lovely picture of Holly skating with her penguin.

Very cheeky picture of Brandon.

To end our session we ditched the penguin and Holly skated around holding mine and Joshua's hand for support.
