End Of Year School Reports

School has now finished for Joshua and Brandon but Holly still has 3 more days before finishing off for the summer holidays. The end of school has been a complete anti-climax compared with years gone by, primarily due to the Covid restrictions. There has been no end of term plays, sports days, teacher parent evenings or anything come to think of it. Poor old Brandon even ended up being sent back home for home schooling for the final week as so many people in Year 7 had had positive Covid tests (including the head of year!). So the poor lads first year of secondary school started with home schooling and finished with home schooling.

The boys reports are simply online this year and to be honest no real surprises there. For the subjects that Joshua likes he is on track for where he should be and the subjects he dislikes tends to be below target. The biggest issue we have found with Joshua is his reading age which has been derived from accelerated reading and has resulted in an intervention when he starts year 9. Needless to say he is now doing 20-30 mins reading at home everyday during summer as we have told him this is not acceptable.

As a high achiever student, Brandon's expected grades are set higher than Joshua and largely he is meeting expectation which is really good. Again the subjects which he slightly dislikes (like languages and ERP) he is slightly below, but still high due to higher expected grades.

Holly's report shows that she is just below where she should be for reading, maths and GPS but improving steadily. Obviously home schooling has affected all the kids grades this year and Holly's situation has been compounded as we didn't know she needed glasses. In her final few weeks both us and her teachers have noticed a significant improvement, so hopefully in Year 3 she will start going from strength to strength. Proud Dad moment when reading her report when there is a comment about how good she is at athletics and running and that she is always saying she does running and gym with her Daddy (that's my girl!).

Holly's Year 2 report.

At the end of Year 2 her teachers gave her this nice Abacus book mark with a poem on it.

This is Holly's 2021 bookmark gift from Abacus.

The only end of school activity this year was a summer picnic for Holly which only one parent could attend (so Tina went as I was working).
