Euro 2020 - It's Coming to Rome

Euro 2020 is over (albeit in 2021 and not 2020 due to the pandemic). England had an absolutely fantastic tournament with Gareth Southgate at the helm as he took us all the way to the final where we drew with Italy to a 1-1 before being beaten on penalties. To say I was disappointed is a complete understatement as I really felt this was our year and with the final being played at Wembley - football would finally becoming home.

It has been 55 years since England last made it to the final of a major tournament and this was a first in my lifetime. For that reason alone we should all be proud of what England achieved and for our kids to experience the excitement of a major tournament final was so special. Flags being flown everywhere and Alexa has constantly been playing Vindaloo, It's Coming Home and Sweet Caroline!!!! England gave the country exactly what was needed at a time when everyone is a little down after over a year of various levels of lockdown due to Corona virus.

For the final against Italy we all dressed up in out England shirts, capes, hats etc and headed over to watch the game at Auntie Nicky's with the family. For sure the win would have been really special, but we can all hang our heads high and really look forward to the World Cup in 18 months time.

How the knock out stages played out and England progressed to the final against Italy.

It wasn't to be though. 1-1 after extra time and then losing on penalties.

All dressed up for the final and ready to head over to Nicky's.

Holly really took being an England supporter to heart.

We had a flags flying proudly outside our house for the whole of the tournament.

Enjoying the match at Nicky's with her Tiki bar open, waiting for the sun to go down more so that the projector screen played better.
