Water Weekend + 65m Ferris Wheel

What a glorious weekend to start the school summer holidays, we may not be able to fly abroad this year - but when the weather is good in England there is no need to jump on a plane. We started the weekend on Saturday with our longest ever paddle board down on the Chelmer. Holly and Brandon both paddle boarded about 2-3 miles in total as we went up river to a lock first, then tracked all the way back to Papermill Lock for a cake and some refreshments. No paddle boarding for Joshua this week as he was more interested in walking along the river bank with Tina and casting out his fishing rod every now and then.

Me and Holly on the SUP's.

Holly gets frustrated at times, but at times you have to remember she is only 7 and what an amazing job she does controlling the paddle board.

Solar panel Brandon soaking up the summer rays down on the river.

Me, Holly and Brandon out paddle boarding whilst Joshua s off fishing.

Only 7 and doing such a good job on the SUP.

Heading back up river to get some cake at Papermill Lock.

Next level gymnastics as I practice head stands on a SUP. I'll get it next time!.

Carrying on with the water theme we went to Lakeside today so that the kids could keep cool in the 32 degree heat by playing in the inflatable water park (so glad we upgraded their tickets to a season ticket so that we have unlimited use of this over the summer). Unfortunately the large tower that they jump off has been taken away (apparently due to a puncture) and replaced with a smaller yellow and blue slide.

Perfect way to keep cool with temperatures hitting nearly 32 degrees today!

The 3 kids coming down the new water slide which has replaced the large tower.

What a beautiful day.

Brandon chilling whilst Holly struggles to climb up!

Ninja warrior Brandon.

The 3 kids right over the back about to leap in to the water.
Holly using the rope to climb up before falling down and hurting her leg.

Holly sits with the lifeguard at the top until her leg stops hurting as Brandon comes down the slide.

It didn't take Holly long to shake it off and then head up another big climb and slide with Josh.

Brandon poised on top trying not to fall in.

After the water park we stopped off in Lakeside for some lunch and then headed over to the other side of the lake where we found some dinosaur exhibits and a 65m high Ferris wheel (which I found out was extortionately priced for a family of 5). It ended up costing me £25 for 5 of us and you only got to go around about 3 times!!!!!! Complete rip off. The view was stunning although Holly and Brandon didn't seem to enjoy it too much as they didn't realise how high it was and were a bit scared of falling.

Lunchtime in Lakeside with some animatronic Velociraptors.

5 of us crammed in an overprice Ferris wheel. Holly's face says it all.

It all looked fun from the ground, but the kids didn't realise just how high it was!

Some of those Lakeside carparks are 5 stories higher and we tower above them on the Ferris wheel.

Stunning views across the lake.

Looking down on a giant Tyrannosaurus Rex.

More views from the wheel.

Not sure why they were worried about falling out!

Loosks safe enough to me!

Shaky legs as the girls are grateful to be back on ground.

Holly with the big animated T-Rex.

The T-Rex and the Ferris wheel.

Me with two very scary monsters!!!!
