Park Run PB's

No league football games for the boys this weekend just gone so despite a late night at the swimming gala on Saturday, they still wanted to get up early on Sunday and head over to Chelmsford for their 2nd Park Run. We bumped into little Ellis (from the Under 7 Lions at Forest Glade) whilst we were over there. Its funny because Ellis is the same year as Joshua at school, yet of you look at the picture of them on the start line he looks smaller than Brandon.

Joshua was on a bit of a mission today because a week or so earlier Ellis had beaten Joshua's time and clocked 11:03 for the 2k race. So once the starting horn went off Joshua was gone like a whippet and he didn't stop running for the entire 2k. I was only going to run one lap with Brandon and then let him go on his own for the second lap, but after 1 lap I kind of got the feeling that if I didn't stay with him he would have stopped and walked. So I stayed with him for both laps and just made sure he paced himself and kept going all the way.

Joshua absolutely smashed his time and got a new PB of 10 mins and 11 secs, almost a minute quicker than last time. He came 31st out of 109 participants and 16th in his age group. Brandon also got a PB and beat Ellis coming home in a time of 10 min 53 sec placing 49th overall and 29th in his age group.

Brandon, Joshua and Ellis ready to go at the start line.
Joshua shot off like a steam train and didn't stop all the way.
Brandon wearing his lucky Olympic sweat shirt as he overtakes someone about twice his size.
Brandon on his sprint finish.
My two boys, so proud of them both getting a PB and enjoying getting up early and in the freezing cold to do a 2k park race. Like father like son.
Brandon's result sheet for his second park run.
Joshua's result sheet for his second park run. I think that will be a tough time for him to beat.
