Farewell Candy Cane

Some of our Xmas decorations are looking extremely tired these days and unfortunately we haven't added to them much this year. The one decoration which we did buy is a rather nice LED shelf lights we reads "XMAS". However as we are in the process of buying our S-MAX, I keep changing the "X" and the "S" around to spell the car name - much to the annoyance of Joshua, Brandon and Holly. I keep telling them that if it spells Xmas we can only have it up for December, but if its spells S-Max then we can have it up all year as it relates to our car and not Christmas.

Our new Xmas LED lights.

Or is it our new S-Max LED lights?

So after nearly a month of causing mischief around the house, today is finally the day that we say farewell to our friendly little ELF Candy Cane as he heads back to the North Pole to make way for Santa to hopefully deliver some presents tonight. Over the last few nights he has been very active and has left messages on the magnet letter board, played bowling with Holly's bowling set, made a Christmas countdown banner, drank a bottle of my Christmas beer and left the kiddies a farewell letter and present.

Candy Cane's message that he left the kiddies using the letter magnet board.

Candy Cane set-up some Elf bowling across the living room floor.

Ready to send a ball down his home made bowling alley.

A homemade Christmas countdown banner. Only 3 more sleeps.

Probably Candy Cane's most malicious crime was drinking one of my Xmas beers.

But last night he did a good deed my leaving a very touching letter for the kids from himself and Santa and got each of them a little gift to say farewell.

According to Santa all 3 kiddies made it on to the good list.

Candy Cane's farewell letter was very touching and for the first time the kids were allowed a few minutes with their Elf to touch him, hug him, kiss him goodbye. Then once they have finished with their goodbyes he goes back where they found him and then off to the North Pole tonight to not be seen for another year.

Joshua, Brandon and Holly finally get to hold Candy Cane and say their farewells. The boys even wrote Candy Cane a nice goodbye and thank you letter.

With our homemade giant cracker already made we had another job to get done before Christmas - to make a ginger bread. Previously we have done a train and a house, this year we made a ginger bread sleigh with reindeer's. Both the boys decorated a reindeer each, me and Brandon did most of the sleigh and Holly ate most of the sweets whilst we were making it. I think the finished ginger bread sleigh looks really good, but I doubt it will see it through to the light of day on Boxing day.

Holly and Joshua start decorating their ginger bread reindeer with icing and sweets.

Joshua's finished reindeer. Now he just needs a decorated sleigh.

Brandon took a  lot of pride with his reindeer and coordinated all of the colours.

Me and Brandon set to work decorating the sleigh.

Ta-dah, the finished work of art, photo bombed by Brandon.
