Park Run PB for Brandon & Interim School Report

On Sunday we had a rare day where not only did I only have one of the boys football teams playing a league match, but the kickoff was quite late at 11 o'clock as well. So you would think we would make the most of this rarity and have a nice lay in! No! Joshua and Brandon wanted to do the park run as they have not been able to do it since the summer due to football. So we were up early and heading over to Chelmsford for their early morning 2k run, then straight from there to Forest Glade to get set-up for Brandon's football match.

Both boys did very well in the 2k run. Joshua came 15th in his age category in a time of 10:13 (about 20 seconds off his PB). Brandon came in 18th in his age group in a time of 10:39 which was a new PB for him.

Joshua looking strong on his first park run since the summer.

Brandon was flying and set a new PB in 10:39.

Surprisingly after the park run you would think Brandon would be too tired for football. But he played 2/3rds of his match and covered defence. He was an absolute rock at the back and nothing got passed him giving the goal keeper a nice easy time. He was so good in defence that he was nominated as Man Of The Match for the second time this season.

Also today we got the two boys end of term reports and both were very good:

Joshua is within the age expectation for his reading, writing, maths and science. His current strengths were:
  • Joshua's effort in lessons have really increased, which is fantastic to see.
  • Joshua has really enjoyed science and our topic. He is also beginning to offer more ideas in class discussions.

Joshua's current areas of development are:
  • Joshua needs to continue to develop his handwriting so that it is all the same size and position on the line.
  • Joshua must try to continue to increase the detail in his work, so that he is pushing himself as much as possible.
Brandon is within the age expectation for writing and science and he is above expectation for reading and maths. His current strengths are:
  • Brandon's writing is progressing well now that he is beginning to include interesting vocabulary and conjunction's to vary the length of his sentences.
  • Brandon has a secure understanding of place value and is able to use this knowledge when adding larger numbers together.
  • Brandon is fairly quiet boy but has a wide circle of friends who he enjoys playing with at break times.
  • Brandon's favourite part of learning is when he has the opportunity to be active. He enjoys all P.E. and really rises to the challenges that different sports present.
Brandon's current areas for development are:
  • Brandon's writing while legible is not always correctly formed and his writing doesn't sit on the lines, he needs to begin to use the joined script which is taught and also distinguish his capital letters from the lower case.
  • During Maths activities Brandon can sometimes rush causing him to get the wrong answer. He needs to slow down and double check his answers.
  • Brandon needs to develop his confidence to speak loudly during whole class discussions as he often only shares his lovely ideas when working alone or in small groups.
