Birthday Sleep Over for Joshua's Friend Leo

We are rapidly approaching Joshua’s 10th birthday!!!!!! The first of our children to reach double digits!!!!!!!!!! Seems like only yesterday that I was holding him in the palm of my hand (well not quite as he was a big baby) and now he is 10 years old. This year he didn’t really want a party and instead asked if he could have one of his friend Leo from Cubs over for a sleep over. We was fine with this as it saved money on the party and means he can get more in presents instead.

So Leo stayed over Saturday though to Sunday. On Saturday we took a walk over the local park, had a cycle, played some football and then the boys played on the PlayStation. In the evening we headed down to Southend Sea Front to get some fish’n’chips for dinner, donuts for pudding and then we watched the firework display. After Southend we headed home to get Holly to bed and then Josh, Brandon and Leo lit the chiminea in the garden and cooked some marshmallows whilst watching X-factor!

On Sunday we took all the kids for a cycle over to the Memorial Park which has undergone and complete renovation since we last visited and is 200% better than it was. We then cycled home for some lunch before heading back over to Wick park for a bit of fishing. The fishing was pretty poor today with only one little roach being caught by Joshua literally about 30 seconds before we were about to jack it in and head home for a Sunday roast.

Josh really enjoyed have his friend stay over and he has had his first early birthday present which was a Smiggle pencil case and some stationary.

Baileys fish'n'chips on Southend sea front.

Followed by firework display.

Once we got home the boys lit a fire and cooked some marshmallows.

On Sunday we visited the newly refurbished Memorial Park.

Holly, Josh and Brandon on the twisty slide.

Holly having fun on a slide.

Holly is getting so big now she can climb a lot of the ladders etc unaided now.

This looks more like a ninja warrior course that would suit me more than the kids.

Leo and Josh on an interesting take of the old fashioned see-saw.

Holly enjoying herself on this net swing.

This is also very novel, an unusual swing that allows a large one and a little one to swing together.

In the afternoon we headed over Wick Park for some fishing. Although the fish had other ideas today!

Leo holding Joshua's only catch of the day, a tiny little roach.
