Enlightened at Hylands House

With lockdown restrictions, home schooling and home working we have hardly left the house in what seems like forever and it certainly doesn't feel like we are 1 week away from Xmas Day. Anyway to try and get in to the festive spirit we booked the Enlightened outdoor light show at Hylands House in Chelmsford for yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. Probably the only negative thing was that I couldn't get any mulled wine and mince pies which I was really looking forward too.

The weather was perfect as it wasn't too cold and there was no rain. We spent about an hour walking around the light trail and even put of wishes on the "Make a wish" wall. This was a much needed "get out of the house" event for all of us and certainly felt very festive and uplifting ahead of the big day next week. Holly really enjoyed seeing all of the fairies and even Tinkerbell herself. At the end of the trail we treated them to a nice warming portion of chips as there was no festive foods on sale. Joshua's chips had the most amazing curry sauce on them that I have ever tasted!!!

The talking tree at the start of the trail.

Some light strip reindeer.

Loads of multicoloured lights illuminated the surrounding gazebos and trees as you followed the trail around the grounds.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Xmas.

Joshua and Holly following the trail around Hylands House grounds.

Can you spot all the fairies hidden in the trees?

And some down on the ground.

Holly even saw a Hologram of Tinkerbell.

Just beautiful the way

The old flint house had a video illumination of Santa and Mrs Claus in the windows.

Luminous light bands looked like something out of Mission Impossible.

Difficult to get a picture of all 5 of us as you cannot give your phone/camera to someone else due to Covid restrictions.

Selfie of all 5 of us in a light tunnel. You didn't have to wear masks as it was an outdoor event, but Brandon and Tina were keeping their faces warm!

This is my favourite photo from the event. Just stunning.

Oh the challenges f trying to get a 5 person selfie!!

Holly and Tina adding their wishes to the make a wish wall.

Already the wall has hundreds and hundreds of wishes.

The Enlightened trail.

More of the illuminated scenery on the trail.

Laser type lights scanning the skies like something out of War Of The Worlds.

Another attempted selfie of the 5 of us.

A lovely touch having some NHS rainbow lights.

My sassy Princess.

Love the rainbow LED glow sticks.

The back of Hylands House had a large illuminated light animation.

Happy times.

Difficult to capture how good this was without a video.

The front of Hylands House was illuminated in a purple colour.
