Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

We have just come off of a 4 day weekend which had an extra bank holiday day due to the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations. As we were on holiday in Wales last week we missed the Thursday and Friday celebrations but then made up for it on the Sunday by having a garden party with some of the family over.

I have to say the number of street parties and general decorations in our neighborhood was pretty poor given that this was such a huge event. We explained to the kids that they should really try and enjoy this event and take it all in as they will never see another Platinum Jubilee in their lifetime (given the age of Charles and Will).

Anyway we managed to get the house decorated on Saturday and then on Sunday we had loads of English food including coronation chicken, cucumber and cress sarnies, along with scones, sponge cakes and loads of other nibbles.

For some Jubilee games we had a "Pin the jewel on the Queens Crown, some "Jubilee Bingo", badminton and a bit of archery. Holly one the Jewel on the Crown and Nicky and David were awarded the RBE (Royal Bingo award) from the Queen herself. The badminton went down very well as we must have been playing for hours and had to make several ladder climbs to recover shuttle cocks from off of the extension or garage roof! Loads of fun had by all though.

Our banner of the Queen ready for selfies.

Loads of Platinum Jubilee bunting around the house.

We even had some fancy tiered cup cake stands for the party.

Conservatory all decorated and ready for the food to be prepared.

Some collectable Jubilee tea towels.

Tina got us a Jubilee cake and loads of Jubilee cup cakes for the party.

Some 5ft by 3ft Jubilee flags with the Queen on them (something to go in the kids memories box).

Even special balloons for the 7 years.

More flags for outside.

Tina bought this red, white and blue reef for the front door.

One of the rare houses down Mersea Crescent which was decorated for the Jubilee.

Holly's selfie with the Queen.

And then with her Union Jack accessories on.

Me with one of my Mum's old Union Jack party hats.

Even the Queen is taller than Auntie Nicky!

Brandon trying to measure with his hands where the Queens Crown Jewel goes.

Joshua with a less scientific, stick and hope technique.

Lisa freaked Nicky out by standing in front of the Queen as she stepped forward to stick on the jewel.

Tina trying to feel for the other stickers.

Second go for Auntie Lisa.

And then a proper for for Nicky without having a surprise human in front of her.

Holly asked someone to bring a Corgi dog, so Nicky obliged with the Corgi chocolate logs which went down very well.

The royal bingo in full swing.

And winners of the two games of Royal Bingo receiving their RBE's from her majesty.

Joshua teaching Rory how to do some archery.

Smithy's teaming up for some badminton.

Even managed to drag Brandon off of the Playstation/PC for some badminton.

And even more amazing was Joshua was dragged away from the TV to play badminton.

No communication as Joshua and Lisa both go for the same shot.

Team brothers.

Holly is getting better, but most of the time she gets in the way and you miss shots through fear of hitting her!

David started getting a bit serious and needed a few games awarded to him (cheat!).

Action shot of Brandon and a rare occasion with Tina playing.

Team Nicky and Josh.

Thanks to all that made it to celebrate the Queen's 70 year sitting on the thrown.

This was an old photo from 1981 at my Nan Pugh's celebrating the marriage of Prince Charles to Lady Diana.

It would have been cool to try and recreate the old picture from '1981, but not all were present. So instead I tried to recreate it with Joshua, Brandon and Holly.
