Lanzarote Day 7

Our last full day of holiday before returning on Day 8. After some breakfast the day started with Joshua having to complete some pool patrol duties. I am not sure that the little guy was really patrolling the pool as much as he was chasing the woman (again!).

"Right lets go find some ladies and see if they want a ride in my new car!"

"I see a girlie - full steam ahead"

"Mission accomplished - right your busted young lady!"

After lunch it was time for our final trip to the beach to put all our skills into practice and build King JJ's Sand Castle.

As fast as Dad was building the sand castles around Joshua - the little guy was pulling them down.

During the course of Day 7 we finally managed to get some family pictures of all 3 of us (or 4 if you count J2 as well).

In the evening time Joshua discovered these textured/mirrored tiles on the side of the bar. He seemed completely fascinated by them and just wouldn't come away. Everyone standing at the bar thought he was hilarious.

At the evening meal Joshua started showing some of his temper tantrums. In this picture it looks like the little man is thumping his fist down on the table and shouting for more ice cream,

Check in tomorrow for the final Lanzarote update. Not too many more pictures to show. But one very very important one.............Joshua with his Spanish lady friend that he pulled in the restaurant. Also in tomorrow's update is the "Walk of fame"..........all will be revealed.

Lanzarote Day 6

Day 6 of the holiday started with a 15 min cab ride into town for a bit of shopping. Not much to buy really other than the usual tourist stuff and a few bits for Joshua and J2. On route we passed some kiddies rides and Joshua had a go on this Formula 1 car - as you can see from the piccie he absolutely loved it.

After a trip into town and a spot of lunch, we headed down to the beach in the afternoon and as you can see Dad was successful in his secret mission to purchase a bucket and spade set the previous day.

"Mum, I caught a fish in the sea!"

"Right come on Dad, its time to fill this bucket with some water - off we go".

Below is another classic shot of Joshua at the restaurant in the evening. As anyone with children will know we had to take it in shifts eating whilst one person fed Joshua. On this occasion he had finished his meal but both me and Tina wanted some desert. So to keep him happy we gave him his spoon to play with whilst we finished off our meal.

After the meal Joshua stopped off for a quick boogie and to check out the girlies at the little toddler mini disco.

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for the Day 7 updates. These include some rare pictures of all 3 (4) of us, along with Joshua on pool patrol and after a weeks long training - the King JJ Sand Castle.

Lanzarote Day 5

Well on Day 5 of holiday the weather turned a little cooler which was the ideal opportunity to explore outside the resort on foot as we headed over to Rancho Texas. So as promised yesterday here are some pictures which differ a little from the last few days pool shots.

After about a 20-25 minute walk we arrive at the Rancho Texas Theme Park. Joshie pulls a quick "cock his leg out to the side" type pose in his push chair.

The first animal we saw just happened to be one of my favourites (second only to sharks) - Yes its the big crocs.

After the crocs we very quickly came upon the sea lions. Joshua absolutely loved watching these and had a real good chuckle. He fell asleep through the entire sea lion show (luckily Dad was recording it on video for him) but he woke up just in time to get his picture taken with a sea lion.

Dad and Joshue checked out some new ideas for the loft conversion on the house back home. Forget dormas, we are now thinking two wigwams on the roof!

This parrot wanted to get up close and personal with Joshua and came and sat on our table as we arrived for the parrot show.

We then sampled a new mode of transport - could this be the next replacement for the C-Max?

Joshua wasn't happy with sitting in the carriage and wanted to have a horse ride instead.

Now this is more like it - a proper station wagon. Just imagine how much luggage and child seats we can fit in the back of one of these.

How about this for a water wheel!

This was the very impressive white tiger exhibit. In this shot you can just about see one of the tigers sitting down by the back wall.

Joshua started to feel like one of these tortoises after a few hours in the theme park. Just like them, Joshua was also carrying a big lump around on his back!

In the evening I managed to get out for a nice run along the beach. My secret mission during this run was to try and pick up a nice bucket and spade set for Joshua's trip to the beach tomorrow. Don't forget to check in to see more shots from the hols.

Lanzarote Day 4 + 1yr Health Check

Today Joshua had his 1 year health check and passed with flying colours. The health visitor was pleased with his progress and commented about how lively he was and the fact that he was walking already. She gave him some real basic tests like picking up a wooden block and a small piece of screwed up paper which didn't tax the little man one bit. He's already putting shapes into holes/slots at home so he was well beyond this stage of development. Apparently he is a very tall baby with not much fat. His height is the 95th percentile, head measurement 50th percentile and weight is just below this. He has lost a tiny bit of weight from last time he was weighed, but the health visitor was not worried about this as we explained he had been ill for 3 days on holiday and not eating much. As part of this health check Joshua was also given some new books for Daddy to read to him.

Anyway Day 4 of the holiday. Well Joshua started to eat finally and had stopped vomiting every time he had his milk/water, so with a little less to worry about it was time to start getting on with the holiday. As you can see from below by Day 4 Joshua was well and truly mobile in the baby pool and pretty much did his own thing.

Forget Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. Check out this Pirate JJ - this picture really reminds me of that scene in ET where there are walking around with ET on Halloween with the sheet thrown over him dressed as a ghost. "JJ Phone Home.........."

Before venturing to the beach me and Joshua went into a little children's play area where we could get him used to playing in the sand (and hopefully learn that sand does not taste very nice!). The task in hand was to teach the little boy the fine art of building sand castles - well I built them and Josh destroyed them actually. First though it was time for a swing.

"Right son, the first thing we do is fill the bucket and then pat the sand down nice and compact".

"Then we turn the bucket upside down and hey presto, we have us a sand castle".

And once built - this was the little man's cue to start the destruction!

During the holiday Joshua has had a habit of poking his tongue out - I finally managed to get it on camera with this cheeky little shot.

That evening in the restaurant the staff had made this pretty amazing pirate ship out of melons. They must have know that Pirate JJ was coming to eat tonight.

However the little guy was more interested in playing peek-a-boo behind his bib!

On Day 5 we had a break from the pool and the hotel completely. So check out tomorrows blog update for some really cool pictures from Rancho Texas.

Lanzarote Day 3

Day 3 in Lanzarote was much the same as Day 2. With Joshua still not eating we didn't dare venture too far from the comforts of the hotel and decided to just stay in the resort and the baby pools - but we still have some nice photo's to share with you. We let Joshua try out his new wet suit which was an early birthday present from Nanny. As you can see it fits fine and gave sufficient buoyancy to enable him to walk in water very comfortably.

The small baby pool shown in these pictures is not heated and surprisingly gets very cold over night. With temperatures close to 30 degrees during the day the pool soon warmed up to bath like temperatures. However it was really funny when we tried to lower Joshua into the pool first thing in the morning. His little toes would touch the water and he would curl his legs up to try and avoid going in to the cold water. Once he was in there it was fine, but it was just hilarious watching him lift his legs out of the water (see below).

Again after all that pool activity it was time for another mid morning nap on a sun lounger.

Everyone knew Joshua was British as he proudly wore his Arsenal kit abroad.

Later that evening it was time to dress up nicely and hit the restaurant again. Tonight's theme for us was the Hawaiian shirts. Tina kept saying Joshua was a mini-me!

Mini-me managed to eat some soup and then had a chew on this sweet/desert stick.

Finally is this just one of the most adorable pictures of Joshua you have ever seen. Check out that cheeky grin!
