Advent

So we are now into the advent period of December or if you prefer the Latin translation; “the coming”! How could it be that the German’s were responsible for inventing the advent calendar over 100 years ago? Never mind, the boys do not really care about Latin or the Germans – they just want their chocolates!!!!!! Advent to the boys is boys is almost an educational tool to teach them numbers and counting down the days until Xmas.

Brandon and Joshua have generously received lots of advent calendars and so we have had to ration the chocolates somewhat. But we also bought them a more traditional chalk board advent calendar where they can cross out each day, and then instead of chocolates, we bought them each one of those Playmobile advent calendars. What a genius idea – why didn’t they have these when I was a kid.

Joshua has grasped the advent concept very well and understands one door gets opened every day. Brandon is a different story. The cheeky little bugger has been found on numerous occasions on his own in the living room chomping on a chocolate which has mysteriously appeared from somewhere!!!!!
