Lee Valley Disc Golf

Today we took a drive to Enfield to go to Lee Valley White Water Park. Last time we was here was back in 2012 for the London Olympics when we watched the white water rafting. We started the day by playing our first ever game of disc golf - this is basically golf with Frisbee's that you throw into a chain cage. It sounds simple but out of nine holes I only managed to par 2 of them. To be honest the kids garden Frisbee's probably aren't good enough and weighted right for this type of challenge. As with normal golf both me and the boys spent more time in the rough than on the fairways!!!!

Lee Valley Disc Golf Course.

The 9 hole course at Lee Valley.

Rules state the youngest tees off first. So up steps Brandon.

Good form as Brandon winds up for a shot.

Joshua has the first cage in his sights.

Brandon shoots for the cage.

Both boys complete their first hole of disc golf.

Fast learning Holly soon realises where the Frisbee's have to go and joins in.

Joshua going for a power shot.

Looking good as Joshua launches one right at the cage.

Another action shot of Brandon.

My 3 kiddies enjoying a round of disc golf.

Joshua and Brandon showing us the yardage on the next hole.

Another hole completed.

Hole 4, seems simple and one of the few that I managed to get a par.

Brandon looking through the top of the disc catcher.

Me and the kiddies testing the strength of a disc catcher by standing on it for a photo!

Holly cheats and beats us all to the win.

All ready for lunch at Lee Valley whilst we watch some white water rafting.

Bringing back memories of 2012.

After lunch we set-up our own inflatable canoe and headed down to the nearby River Lea and had an absolutely beautiful row down to Waltham Lock. The river was so peaceful and tranquil with loads of bird life, we even saw a large stork as we passed a nature refuge. We stopped off at the lock and the boys helped some long boat owners to open and close the lock gates as they moved their boats through the locks.

Me, Josh and Brandon head up river to Waltham Lock.

The River Lea was so peaceful and tranquil.

The two boys were climbing all over the lock gates (not highly recommended).

Waiting for the long boats to arrive to help open and close the gates.

In comes a stealth looking long boat. Time for the boys to jump into action.

Using their muscles as the boys push open the lock gates.

Nearly there........

Holly getting dangerously close to the lock edge. Luckily she had her life jacket on ready for a ride in our canoe.

So our 3 man canoe turns into a 4 man as Holly joins in the fun.

Whilst the canoe was drying out we headed back into Lee Valley to grab a coffee and some ice-cream whilst the kids watched some more of the white water rafting. Cheeky little Holly has taken a shine to choc and mint ice-cream and stole my Cornetto. The only looking I got was whenever she wanted more cone eaten away to get at the ice-cream inside!!!!

Holly feeling proud of herself eating Daddies Cornetto.

Only a daughter could get away with stealing food from her Dad!!! Guess I better start buying 5 ice-creams from now on.
