Easter Friday - Hanningfield Reservoir Easter Trail

As always Easter starts in the King household on Good Friday and therefore the Easter Bunny made his visit to Josh, Brandon and Holly last night. They each received a nice little selection of eggs along with some decorative chicks and rabbits etc. The Easter Bunny also left a little message for the kiddies on the movie board light.

We also spent the morning doing some Easter crafts with some colouring cards and then ran our own little Easter Egg hunt in the back garden. It took the three kids almost exactly 3 minutes to find 14 little eggs, 1 large egg and 3 bags of chocolates!

Our main activity for today though was an Easter Egg trail over at Hanningfield Reservoir. The event first involved a little craft activity where the kids had to make a little Easter Bunny cup basket which they could use to collect mini eggs around the hunt. Then basically they had to use a map and follow clues to find 6 eggs which had various animals on them. If they identified all 6 animals correctly then they won a larger Easter Egg once we got back to the Visitor Centre. Whilst over the reservoir the kiddies also got to do a bit of pond dipping.

The Easter Bunny made his visit to Wick Palace last night.

A Message from the Easter Bunny.

Holly's little selection of Easter eggs.

Me and Holly hard at work colouring in some Easter Cards.

A rare occasion when everyone is sitting down quietly doing the crafts.

Brandon was doing really well until Holly leaned over and scribbled on his card.

Joshua didn't last too long on the colouring. Too keen to get back to the IPAD.

Lovely picture of Holly showing her beautiful colouring in.

Selfie of me and Holly with some Easter masks.

At Hanningfield Reservoir and Tina was helping Holly make her bunny basket.

The two boys cracked on with their own ones.

All 3 of them with their finished bunny cup baskets ready for the Easter hunt.

I thought their bunny baskets all looked great.

Me and the kiddies start on the Easter Trail hunt.

A quick stop in a lodge to do a bit of bird spotting.

We found the first egg and the picture was a bunny rabbit.

More badger characters in the woods.

Holly giving the badger a kiss goodbye. So sweet.

Second egg found and it was a bee.

The 3rd egg was a little lamb.

Joshua had to squeeze a dab in the day somewhere.

Next egg we found was a butterfly.

Tine and the kiddies on another badger wooden statue,

Holly and Brandon with Mr Toad.

The penultimate egg was a little chick. One more to go.

Off exploring another bird lodge looking out over the reservoir.

A spot of pond dipping getting in touch with nature.

By the time we had got there I think the pond had been emptied of any wildlife. Either that or it was all scared off.

Love these three to bits.

Holly and Brandon observing the little bugs from the pond under the magnifying glass.

All 3 kiddies learning about pond life.

Not quite what the magnifying glass was for Holly.

In years to come Holly will have no clue what this means. But I saw this piece of wood and immediately thought, "By the power of Grey Skull, I have the power!".

And with that we found the final Easter Egg on the hunt which was a little duckling. Now to get our rewards.
