Devon Camping 2019 Day 3 - Watermouth Castle

Day 3 of our Devon camping holiday and we decided to venture off site and explore a bit of North Devon. So after a 20 miles / 45 min drive we headed further North to the stunning Watermouth Castle. The weather was probably the best we had all holiday and we had an absolutely amazing family day out which left everyone pretty exhausted by the end. Anyway loads of pictures for this blog update so I am not going to type much.

Arrival at Watermouth Castle with lovely blue skies signalling we were in for a good day.

The Union Jack raised on type and the green and white Devon flags mark the entrance.

Looking up at the tower and the Devon flag.

Holly and Brandon waiting for the doors to open.

In side the Castle you go through a Ikea style maze with loads of very interesting and some very old artifacts to view.

A robot music band.

Fresh made bread.

I think the kids thought this is how things were when me and Tina were younger :).

Holly using some old cleaning tools.

A little Snow White exhibit.

There was even a cycle museum in there where we saw this 6 seater beast of a machine.

And how about this for some bike tires? Roll out the barrel.......

Holly in an old ride on space ship.

The gardens leading from the Castle to the Theme Park were just stunning.

The kiddies playing with some water pumps.

More of the garden with the beautifully styles bushes.

.....and mini waterfalls.

Holly pumping some water.

Cooling off in a water feature.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.

Holly exploring the Gnome village.

In the gnome village we got to search for gold nuggets and then convert them in to Watermouth gold coins.

Tina and Holly searching for gold.

Now is that the coolest hand dryer ever.

In the crooked house we tried our best Michael Jackson leaning pose.

I think Brandon is bending a bit too much at the hip.

A new feature here was the air guns which were an absolute blast.

Brandon aiming for his brother.

And even Holly joined the battle. I was recovering ammo for her.

Joshua riding down the largest outdoor slide in the UK.

Then Brandon's turn.
Holly on a little plane ride.

Joshua also went on but was way too big with his knees up at his ears.

What a great use for an old telephone box.

Joshua making some music on the chimes.

Holly's turn to make some noise (I mean music).

And just how cool is this, a crazy golf pool game played with a cue.

Perhaps the tables were a tad too big for H.

Brandon looking like a pro.

Holly starting to get the hang of it.

This hole was very challenging trying to bounce the ball off the ramp in to the net.

And then after that we exchanged our cue's for clubs to play the crazy golf course as well.

Holly being very impatient and having to go first every time.

The best ride there was the toboggan ride which we went on several times.

Brandon ready for his go.

Holly was too short and had to ride with an adult.

Joshua whizzing through the finish gate.

Followed by Brandon who didn't touch the brake once!

Then me and Holly.

Joshua going up for his second go.

Brandon off again.

Tina rode with Holly for the second round. Holly didn't brake once and Tina fell off burning her shoulder on the metal track!!!!

Love seeing the kids having fun.

Tina wasn't as happy with a chunk of skin missing off of her shoulder.

Ouch. Holly found it funny though.

The snail ride lived up to its name.

Holly enjoyed it though, even if the boys didn't.

The water bomb fight was just brilliant fun and absolutely what we all needed to cool off on a very hot day.

Josh about to take a hit my one of Brandon's orange balloons.

Joshua loading up to retaliate.

Brandon getting ready to fire back again.

I had to help Holly as she wasn't strong enough to pull the catapult back. We fired a perfect shot which skimmed Brandon's head, went through the hole in the roof and caught Joshua square in the nuts!!!!

Joshua was soon doubled over after this shot and holding on to his tackle.

Brandon enjoying himself on the water ride.

Tina Joshua and Holly in one pod with me and B in another.

We didn't get wet enough and thus had to go again...... and again.......and again.

Me, Holly and Joshua trying to pull a wheelie in our pod boat.

Amazingly we didn't get kicked off because in the end we were all doing wheelies going around the course.

Holly back at the gnome village with a house perfect for her size.

To finish our day and get out of the sun for a bit we went and watched the light and fountain show underneath the castle.
Time for some snacks and some Devon fudge before leaving the Castle grounds.

Can we leave the kids here and head off on our own for the night?

That the second one locked up.

And then the third, lets make a run for it!

Beautiful views of the coast bay from on top of the castle.

Back at base we ate in the Coast restaurant and me, Josh and Tina all had this lovely pulled pork burger.

Brandon had this ginormous all day breakfast which he couldn't finish off.

Practicing some surfing ready for the beach tomorrow.

Holly's turn. No picture of Josh as he really struggled to balance on this.

Selfie Station with Tina and Holly. Holly as Sparkle.
