Devon Camping 2019 Day 4 - Market Day and Outdoor Cinema

Day 4 and everyone was settling in to camp life and starting to sleep better. Joshua was still waking up earlyish but Holly and Brandon were enjoying a holiday lay in. We started the day cooking some bacon for breakfast before heading over to the local market. Our trip to the market became very expensive as I ended up paying out for a new wet suit for Brandon, a larger body board for Josh, some slide-ons for me, a few souvenirs and then the cost for all three kiddies to play on the inflatables.

Obviously with the new wet suits and boards the kids were keen to hit the waves again so we spent most of the day at Croyd beach again and also had our second visit to the Cascade Aqua Park which was on site. After the routine arcades and evening entertainment we settled down outside on hay bales to watch Mary Poppins on an outdoor cinema screen. Fortunately for me, Joshua and Holly wanted to go back to the tent so I only had to endure about 15-20 minutes. Tina on the other hand ended up sitting out the whole film as Brandon wanted to watch to the end.

Sleepy heads struggling to get up on Day 4.

Not quite a manly BBQ but cooking bacon camp style.

The cup says it all.

Bacon cooked in butter - delicious.

Kids seemed to enjoy the cooked breakfast.

Holly having inflatable fun at the Tuesday market.

Joshua wasn't too big to have a go either.

All three of them burning off some energy.

A bit of disco inflatable fun.

And falling around on a more conventional bouncy castle.

Running wild inside the disco inflatable.

The tide was well out today meaning a long sandy walk to get to the sea.

Brandon donning his new full length wet suit and Joshua with his new body board and bag.

Not sure Tina enjoyed the long walk across the sands.

And as you can see, the sea was pretty far out at low tide.

Nearly there and Holly is getting excited.

And shes off again, a natural at body boarding.

She caught that wave well.

Again mostly pictures of Holly as the boys were off deeper and in bigger waves.

The toothless smile says it all really.

The water was about 17 degrees but with her wet suit on, Holly seemed quite happy.

Brandon stayed nice and warm in his full length wet suit.

Holly getting braver on some bigger waves.

Brandon acquired this board in the beach recycling scheme.

It seemed to work OK for him though.

Joshua got on OK with his new board but abandoned his wet suit as his said it was rubbing.

Holly just enjoying playing in the sea.

Seems like everyone does something like this these days.

But do they all add a sand angel to their beach art?

As always we were trying to be creative with our sand castles.

All of us chilling back at the tent enjoying the sun after a nice camp dinner cooked by me.

More arcade fun in the evening as Brandon and Holly play a ball game to win more tickets.

Its a race to stuff as many balls in to a whole in a limited time.

13 seconds left and 58 balls in.

Who would have thought I would be sitting on hay bales watching Mary Poppins?????

Sun sets and movie time begins.
