Devon Camping 2019 Day 8 - The Big Sheep

Our penultimate day in Devon and fortunately the weather had done a complete 180 from the previous day. So we decided to head out South to a place called "The BIG Sheep" which is really an Old McDonalds farm sort of place but with more of a sheep focus and they also claim to have Devon's largest roller coaster.

We had an absolutely fantastic day out and the kids got to do so much fun stuff like bottle feeding lambs, betting on sheep races, archery, pony riding and so much more. I won't write too much about The BIG Sheep as I think the pictures pretty much cover it.

We arrived at The BIG Sheep early and not many attractions were open, so we started with the swing chairs.

Holly and Josh on the big swing ride.

A bit of digger fun in the sand pit.

Holly soon got the hang of the controls.

And the boys found a winning sheep.

Holly feeding some hay to some lambs that were just a few weeks old.

Later in the day the kids got to bottle feed these baby lambs.

Joshua hand feeding some big old sheep.

Holly was brave enough to give it a go and said their tongues tickles her hand.

Josh had them queuing up for food.

After that we had a little train ride around Swan Lake.

All 5 of us on the carriage and ready to go.

Enroute there was lots of little nursery rhyme scenes. Here is the 3 Little Piggies.

Me, Josh and Holly on the train.

Demolition derby with some pedal tractors.

The sheep show was very interesting with 9 different types of sheep on show and they all made an entrance to music and went straight to their named station on the stage.

The boys having a go on swan lake.

Holly put on her life jacket and came out n another swan with me.

Joshua and B actually working as a team for once.

Managed to hand my camera to B so he could get a piccy of me and H.

Looks like Josh is chilling whilst Brandon is doing the work.

All ready for our first ride on "The Big One".

I think the boys wanted bigger thrill rides after Euro Disney, but this was the best it got in Devon.

Me and H ready for the coaster.

A view from up the top looking out over The BIG Sheep.

What goes up.......

......must come down (with a scream).

Our official ride photo.

Holly learning to milk a cow.

The 3 kiddies taking it in turns to bottle feed the baby lambs.

Brandon and Josh burning off some steam on an inflatable cushion.

Holly having fun, but she did get extremely muddy where yesterdays rain had run off the cushion on to the outskirts!

All three playing together nicely.

Holly going for a little pony ride.

Then Joshua's turn (poor pony!). We thought he would be too big as a girl in front of us who was not much bigger than Josh got told she couldn't ride.

Holly with her Rosette for riding the pony.

Last but not least it was Brandon's turn.

This was like a pooh bear honey tea cup type ride.

Brandon tearing up some pedal go-karts on a wet and muddy track.

It's race on.

Holly always enjoys a swing of any type.

Football target practice and Josh took an early lead getting 3 in the holes.

Brandon was a slow starter but eventually won with 4 in the holes.

Having a quick lesson on how to do archery.

Then we were let loose to hit some targets.

Holly gave it her best but just couldn't pull the bow back enough.

Brandon eventually came and joined us.

We got to witness how a sheep is sheared and was amazed to learn that the coat is only worth about £1.50 and that the farm lose money on each one they shear after paying all the overheads.

Holly having a piggy trailer ride around the farm.

Electric ride on's with all 3 kiddies tearing up the track.

Brandon in hot pursuit of Holly.

Heart attack time as Joshua just lowered Holly down this drop ramp in the indoor play area!

Holly beats Brandon down the big slide.

The main event of the day was the sheep race where we all bet a £1 on our colour sheep.

And no surprise we all lost our bets.

More from the indoor play area as Brandon and Holly hit more drop slides.

Ready, steady, and down in to the ball pit below.

All three of them on another of the big slides.

And landing in the ball pit at the bottom.

One final race before time to head off home.

Another great day out in Devon comes to an end and it is time to tackle those small meandering roads again.

In the evening entertainment Tina got dragged up on stage and had to feed a entertainer pancakes whilst blind folded and standed behind her. Very funny. Amazingly she won points for the red team as well.
