Holly Now Crawling

Uh oh, look who's crawling now!!! Time to start lifting everything up high and using the stair gates once again. Holly seems to find her new found freedom very satisfying and is really enjoying getting into mischief as she explores parts of the house that were previously out of bounds for her. Her crawl started off a lot like Joshua's with one leg stuck out to the side (we used to call it a crab crawl), but after a while she seemed to change to a conventional crawl.

A very happy Holly now fully mobile and able to crawl around the house.

The Joshua style crab crawl with one leg out to the side.

Holly outs on the turbo and traverses the conservatory floor in now time at all.
This weekend has predominantly been football again. Yesterday I had to drive Joshua over to Buckhurst Hill as our Tigers team played two of there teams. We lost the first game 3-1 but it was one of those games that was very, very even and we let in two clumsy goals. A draw might have been a fare result for this game. Despite a few injuries causing some late team changes (Joshua included), our second game was a bit of a goal fest as we cruised to a 5 or 6 -0 win. Brandon's football club has also started up again so he had his first training session back with his new boots and his Rooney kit that he got on holiday.

Today we made the most of the weather and managed to slip in another day of canoeing. I really wanted to try and get out canoeing this weekend due to the fact that it is now Autumn and you just never know if you will be able to get the boat out again for the rest of the year. We had a really good time on the river today and both boys had a good go at rowing the boat all on their own. I do now think that Joshua is pretty much ready for his own single seater boat. Once we had rowed to Papermill Lock and had a spot of lunch we went back out on the water where the boys practiced standing up and balancing in the boat whilst singing the "Head, shoulders, knees and jump" song that they learnt from the Beavers canoe trip earlier in the year.

As everyone knows the two boys love fishing and have recently become hooked (no pun intended) on Robson Green's Extreme Fishing on TV. Anyway having watched Robson fishing from a canoe and Kayak they now want to take their roach poles out on the canoe!!! I am not sure letting the boys swing metal hooks around whilst sitting on an inflatable boat is that great an idea. Having watched a few episodes of Robson they also now want to catch a fish that we can cook up and eat!

Brandon standing up behind me and doing his "Head, shoulders, knees and jump!".

Then Joshua's turn.

Then they made me get up and stand on the boat!!!

This piccy just shows how stable our boat is as both boys stand and balance.
The great outdoors and the canoeing etc is absolutely fantastic, but the real highlight for the boys of going to Papermill Lock is the scrummy chocolate cake and strawberry cream scones. This makes all the hard work of rowing worth every minute. Believe it or not, today was the first day I have ever known Joshua to not finish a piece of cake as he left about 1/4 of his chocolate cake!!!! But as you can see they are bog portions.

The Papermill Tea Room certainly serves up some scrummy looking cakes.
