BPSC Annual Championships Part.1

On Friday Brandon competed in the first part of the Basildon and Phoenix Swimming Club annual championships. So we ended up down the pool for about 4 hours to watch Brandon in the 50m freestyle and the 50m back stroke. He did very well and came 4th in the freestyle receiving a 4th place medal and then he came 9th in the back stroke which isn't one of his strongest strokes. What really pleased was that even with the 9th place finish on the back stroke Brandon found a positive in his performance. After the race he came up to me and said "I did better than last year Dad as I didn't get disqualified!". So true, last year he turned on to his front just before touching the wall and was so upset that he was disqualified. I remember saying to him after the race last year to make sure he learned from his mistakes and never do it again - and he didn't. So really proud of him.

This is only part 1 of the championships though as next Friday he is back in the pool for part 2 which will be much busier for him as he is entered in to 6 races!!!

Some more good news with Brandon's swimming is that we just received an email saying he has shown significant improvement and is being moved from the Academy green hat to yellow hat.

Brandon ready for the off on the 50m freestyle. He said he had a problem with his goggles and was worried they would come off if he dived in off the board, hence why he is starting in the pool.

Action shot of Brandon in the water.

Proudly showing his 1st medal of the championships with a cheesy false smile!
