Joshua Stops Believing in Santa

We knew this day would come one day and to be honest I think we have done really well to hold out until Joshua is 11. But unfortunately the day has come where we had to have the chat with Joshua about Santa not being real. He was starting to say too much in the car about how he didn't believe anymore to the point where it could have influenced Holly and Brandon who do both still believe. So we decided best to have the chat and get him on our side.

It's a bit depressing to think one of our children is old enough to not believe anymore, but statistics show that most kids don't believe anymore from the age of 8. Apparently by the age of 9, 62% no longer believe in Santa, so I think Kudos to use for lasting until Josh was 11. We have given Joshua strict instructions that he has to play along now for Holly and Brandon and that if he does anything to blow it for them there will be serious consequences.

After the Santa chat I said to him "what about the Elf on the Shelf?" and he said that wasn't real either. So I said to him "you are looking at the Elf on the Shelf", pointing to myself and he had a good chuckle about that. so the big plus side Joshua can now start helping out with the Elf on the Shelf ideas which takes some pressure off of me.
