New Back Garden

I love our house to bits and we have lived here for 18 years now, but our back garden is a nightmare this time of year. It simply becomes a bog and is out of bounds and unusable from October through to about March. Since having kids I realised that not having use of your garden for 6 months of the year just doesn't work so for years I have been talking about getting artificial grass in the back with better drainage to make it usable year round. So finally we bit the bullet and have got it done.

A company called AGI did an amazing job in the garden in under 2 days (as shown by the before and after pictures). They have levelled out the garden significantly as it sloped away by around 1ft. We have had a sort of mid range 40mm artificial grass installed, called Sienna with a granite base. It feels amazing under foot and looks 200% better than the boggy grass.

Tonight after school was the first night the kids had the opportunity to play out on the grass and it was lovely to see them rolling, sliding, running, diving on each other and generally messing around without getting the slightest bit dirty or muddy. And as if that wasn't enough, the other major positive is I never have to mow the back garden again!!!! Yippee.

Work begins on the new garden as the apple tree root and turf are all removed.

At one point we had a mud bath for a back garden.

Slowly the garden got levelled out and the compacted granite layer went down.

And then the after picture taken from the far end. Looks fantastic.

After picture taken from the decking end. Not sure I want the climbing frame and trampoline to go back on the grass.

First time the kids get to feel the new artificial grass under foot before heading off to school.

After school it was wonderful to see the kiddies playing in the garden and not getting the slightest bit muddy.

Now we have a year round usable garden for the kids to play in.

My world.
