Lights & Darks

This year we have decided to capitalise on the last year that we can benefit from taking cheaper holidays out of term time. Next year it all becomes more difficult and more costly as we become bound to the term timetable as Joshua will be starting primary school this September. So our plans for this year were to firstly take the boys to Euro Disney early in the year – this one is booked and we are counting down the weeks. Secondly we wanted to bite the bullet and go for the ludicrously priced Christmas vacation to Lapland – this one is now booked for December. Bring on the huskies and the snowmobiles, can’t wait! So the boys (and me) have two fantastic holidays to look forward to this year and in between that I am sure we will try and squeeze in the odd camping trip as well.

On a different subject Brandon is showing signs of now being “dry” throughout the night. Despite still wearing nappies for bedtime, he has woken up the last two nights and shouted downstairs that he wants to go to the toilet rather than just weeing in his nappy. Up until now I would say he is dry around 75% of the nights, but maybe we are now entering the new era of being completely nappy free.

As adults we undertake a lot of mundane tasks each and everyday without giving them any thought. Having children makes you realise that even these mundane tasks once seemed impossible and had to be learnt over time. The latest one I have discovered is teaching the boys to sort out the washing. Most adults wouldn’t think twice about sorting out the washing into lights, darks and whites, but then give the task to a 3 and 4 year old and watch their brains tick away computing the shades of colours. The two boys have pretty much cracked this task now so I need to find them a new challenge. Anyway if any of our light clothes seem a bit off colour lately you all know who to blame!
