Farewell Beavers

As a football coach/manager this weekend was the first time that I had both my teams playing on the same day. Brandon's Under 7's with a 9am kickoff and then straight into Joshua's Under 8's with a 10am kickoff. It was a pretty full on morning to say the least and my lesson learnt was to leave more time between the two games! Fortunately both teams were playing at home, god knows what I will do when they are both away and at different places!!! Or one away and one at home.

Despite all my hard work it wasn't a great weekend for results. Brandon's team lost their first league game 7-2 to East Thurrock. They played OK and scored 2 goals, there is signs of improvement but I need to work on their marking, tackling and defending. Joshua's team lost 5-4 against Berry Boys who they have never lost against. The really frustrating thing is that we scored 3 of their goals for them!!!!

Both my boys ready for their home league games on the same day.

After the football Holly had a nap so we decided to crack on with some of the boys creative homework. Brandon did a painting of his favourite Disney character, Pluto, and Joshua had to paint an unusual scene from Wickford. He painted the Wickford Town sign that is the centre piece of the round-a-bout between the Wick and the High Street.

Brandon's masterpiece painting of Pluto.

Joshua is also now starting to get spelling's sent home to learn for a weekly test. I have to say that the spellings seem pretty challenging given his age. It doesn't seem that long ago that he was learning the KS1 words such as there, were, has, mum, dad, been and things like that..........now he has far more challenging words like bicycle and pyramid. Yesterday when I practised these with Josh he did manage to get 10/10, but in his school test today he only managed 7/10.

Joshua's tricky spelling's which he had to learn this week.

Finally for today Joshua had his very last session at Beavers tonight. As of tomorrow he is a full time Cub and is due to be invested next week. As a sending off tonight he was given the honour of handing over lodge leader role to another boy and then finishing the session off with the Beaver chant.

Joshua hands over lodge leader as he moves on to the Cubs.

Lining up ready for a farewell Beaver chant.

"1-2-3 who are we, Beavers can't you see............."
