Norfolk Camping Day 3 - Character breakfast, Burgh Castle and Russells Circus

Day 3 of our camping holiday was probably our busiest to date. We started the day in the resort restaurant as we had a character breakfast booked up with Sparkles the rabbit for Brandon, Holly, and Josh. They each got served a full English breakfast and had the opportunity to play around with Sparkles and get their picture taken with him. Holly was completely fearless of Sparkles and was high fiving him, giving him cuddles and then he started playing games with her at the table by balancing paper cups on her head etc.

After a good breakfast we set out for a bit of hiking around on old church and then the nearby Burgh Castle ruins. There isn't much left of the castle but what there is has a stunning view looking out over the broads with some windmills in the scenery. Despite plenty of signs saying no climbing on the ruins, I couldn't resist and in no time at all I had Holly, Brandon and Joshua climbing the castle. The castle is an old Roman fort dating back to around 300AD and the boys were both pretty fascinated with the history as they have been learning about Romans at school.

After our morning hike we went back to camp for some lunch and then had a little go on the crazy golf course and the electric go-karts. Even Holly joined in with the crazy golf but she didn't quite get the hang of it. She would tee-off and then pick her ball up and place it right next to the hole. Then she would tap her ball in and shout "I did it!". The electric carts were also good fun as Holly wanted to drive on her own. So I had to ride shotgun with her to make she she was safe and didn't have too many crashes!!! All I can say is.................. lady drivers!

To finish off our day we managed to get tickets for the World famous Russells circus. I was so pleased to find this as I have wanted to take the kids to a circus for ages and we seem to keep missing them. Russells was absolutely fantastic with lots of acrobatics, clowns, motorcycles, quad bikes, knife throwers, the wheel of death and so much more. We all really enjoyed the show and had a fantastic afternoon.

The kids all playing nicely and killing time before there character breakfast in the restaurant.

At the table and waiting for their full English brekkie and to meet Sparkles.

And in comes a rather large looking Sparkles the rabbit.

Holly has no problem giving Sparkles a high five.

Lovely piccy of the kids with Sparkles.

Holly even went back for a picture by herself with Sparkles.

Sparkles playing with Holly by balancing paper cups on her head.

Brandon, Holly and Sparkles. I think we realised that Joshua might be getting a little too old for character breakfasts already.

A very picturesque church we found en route to Burgh Castle.

Inside the chapel.

The boys were fascinated with the stained glass windows and were interested to know who the characters were on each window.

Holly and B exploring the church grounds.

Holly out and about around the Burgh Castle ruins.

Some tricky terrain for her little legs.

All three kiddies at Burgh Castle.

Bad Daddy teaching the boys to climb the castle walls!

What is left of the main entrance of the castle.

This was the most intact side of the castle.

I even managed to get Holly climbing the castle (much to Tina's disliking).

Brandon putting on his best Roman warrior face.

Joshua on the look-out tower.

After a morning of hiking it is time for some family crazy golf.

The best hole was the Tower Bridge hole.

Anyone seen the kids?

Joshua and Brandon having a race on the electric carts.

Me putting my life at risk with Holly driving me on an electric bike!

Holly in hot pursuit of Brandon.

Brandon pretty much lived in this New York fleece during our weeks camping. He "Acquired" it the weekend before going away at the Forest Glade 5's tournament.

Joshua starting to look a bit too big for these electric cars/bikes.

Holly even had a try at driving the formula 1 car on her own. This was even more dangerous as there was nowhere for me to sit like on the bikes!!!!

Taking the kids to the World famous Russells circus.

At the entrance to the big top ready for the show to start.

Some of the acrobatics in the show.

Riding a motorbike on a high wire, then standing on it with a young lady balance underneath - just nuts!

The finale was the wheel of death and this was also Brandon's favourite part of the show.

These dudes are lunatics doing handstands on the outside of the wheel whilst it spins around in the big top.
