Sporty Weekend

Last weekend Tina went away for her 40th Birthday pamper weekend. This meant one things - boys weekend. So me and the boys set-off on a massive sporting weekend. It all started on Saturday morning with football club, then on the way home we stopped off at the driving range to hit some balls, then after a spot of lunch we went swimming, followed by badminton. Then just when you thought the day was over the boys then had another 2 hour gymnastics party! Not bad for one day of sport.

You would think after such a sporting Saturday that both me and the boys were due some well earnt down time, but nope I had other ideas. The weather was gorgeous and so we got up early Sunday, prepared a picnic and headed off to Papermill Lock for some canoeing. We did our longest ever canoe going from Papermill Lock to about a mile up river to a bridge, then turned around and came all the way back

Having a well earnt picnic after our longest ever canoe ride.

The picnic wasn't enough and Joshua wanted an ice cream and Brandon a cafe chocolate cake special!

The river itself was the most stunning I have ever seen it. The water was dead still, warm and crystal clear all the way up river. At any point in time you could look over the side and see the bottom. However on route we did engage in a little bit of slime wars by scooping out handfuls of green algae and throwing it at each other!

Crystal clear, still waters at the Lock.

The boys always enjoy watching the boats coming through the Lock.

Joshua and Brandon even tried helping a boats man out by pushing open the lock. I think they were somewhat surprised at how heavy it was as it barely moved.
After canoeing we went out for a little bike ride and then it was back home to cool off in the paddling pool and the slip and slide mat. The slip and slide mat did not last long as Joshua put a hole in it meaning I had to improvise and use the grass sprinkler instead!

Brandon doing a bit of surfing on the slip and slide.

Joshua on his belly with me pushing him down the slip and slide mat.
Needless to say the boys had a very tiring weekend and once Tina returned she had a good long sleep as the boys were so exhausted they slept well into Monday morning.
