Summer Bounce

This evening was the Abacus School Summer Bounce which takes place at the end of each school year. The event is put on by the FAPS group and usually involves multiple bouncy castles, along with food, drinks and music. It is a great event for both the children and parents to all let their hair down at the end of the school year and to kick-off the summer holiday activities, and Summer Bounce was an appropriate name given that the weather has been touching 30 degrees all week long.

You can just about see Joshua at the very top of this rather large inflatable slide.

Joshua crash lands and Brandon heads straight for him.

Brandon getting a bit sideways.

Both boys having a bounce at the Summer Bounce.

This year the Summer Bounce even included an inflatable race track set-up on the playground with electric karts for the kids to race in. Brandon loves his electric Hummer and was first out of the boys to make his way over to the race track.

Brandon in action speeding around a corner.

Crossing the start/finish line.

One happy little petrol head. Do we have a future karting champion in the making?

Brandon chasing the other karts getting ready to lap them.

Whilst waiting in the queue for a laser tag inflatable, Joshua came running over to us with a big grin on his face. For the second time in 2 days another tooth had fallen out!!! So not only has his lower lateral incisor fallen out, but now he has lost and upper central incisor. So a double "gappie" and an expensive couple of days for me as once again I need to pretend to be a big hairy tooth fairy tonight! It is really funny seeing Joshua getting used to the feeling of having two missing teeth in his mouth and also the slight lisp that it has created when he tries to say certain words.

Joshua's new smile with two missing teeth.

After recovering from the tooth, Joshua takes his turn on the karts.

Not as good a driver as Brandon. Joshua got boxed in more and had more crashes than Brandon.

Joshua taking the racing line through the corner.

Getting a bit tight at the front as they all race for 1st place.

The next bouncy castle was another new one for me and a rather novel idea. Basically two kids were tied together using a rope and a waist harness with the rope feeding through a hole in a bouncy castle wall. They both start with their backs facing the wall and then have to race and pull each other to stick velcro bean bags on black strips. Joshua was racing Tia who is one of the girls in his foundation year.

Joshua powering on and stretching out to place his first bean bag.

Joshua see's victory as he charges off with his 3rd bean bag in hand.

Tia tugs a bit harder and down goes Joshua.

Little B coming down another bouncy castle slide.

Soon followed by Joshua who takes it to the next level and goes down head first.

Another cool idea with a 2 on 2 bouncy castle football inflatable.

Joshua also donned the protective head gear and braved a battle on the duelling inflatable against a boy who was somewhat larger than him. I gave him plenty of tips about stance, balance, weight distribution and mixing up his target strikes. I held his own and battled to a 2:1 loss, but at least he scored 1 point.

Joshua looks like a right rugby bruiser with the head gear and his missing teeth!

Joshua battling a giant and barely able to lift/swing his weapon.

Good balance as he pulls the bigger lad forward.

It all ends in disaster as Joshua takes the plunge after being beaten 2:1.

Finally for today a really nice bigger of Joshua with one of his good buddies, Jared. The two have become very good friends in their first school year and thankfully are both in the same class next year as well.
