Adventure Island

Today the two boys were off school as there was a teacher training day and so I decided to take the day off of work and we had a lovely family day out at Southend. We spent most of the day in the Adventure Island theme park and then afterwards treated the kids to a delicious pudding in the ever popular Creams Cafe. It was a absolutely fantastic day out and what made it really special was how alert Holly was and how she enjoyed so many of the red band rides for the first time. She was so into the rides that she even missed out on her morning nap and just kept on going like a little Duracell bunny until around 3 o'clock when the tired tantrums began.

We arrived in Southend at around 10:30 not realising that Adventure Island didn't open until 11am. So as it was such a glorious morning we let the kids have a 20 minute play in a little park which is located right on the sea front.

Happy girl playing on the beach park.

A glorious morning for a drive to the seaside.

Holly loving the beach slide.

So that gates opened and the wrist bands were on. Joshua immediately headed to his favourite ride Rage and had to pretty much be dragged off of it after 3 times going around!!! He was the first one to go on the Rage today and had a whole carriage to himself. Brandon is about 1.5cm's short of the blue band height restriction so still has to stay with the green and red bands. Hopefully this year he will grow that last little bit and then we will not need to accompany him on the rides as well as Holly.

Joshua was the first person to ride Rage today, all on his own.

Mean while Brandon was on his favourite ride the Green Scream.

Joshua again riding solo on Sky Drop as the park was very quiet on the teacher training day.

Up he goes into the morning sunshine.

Quick selfie of me and the boys on the Ghost Train, Brandon didn't have smiles for long and was pretty scared afterwards.

Up, up, up and around we go.

Joshua went on the Zamba spinning disc ride for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ship ahoy...... Captain Holly.

Brandon loved the American Whip and went on it about 6 times!!!

Surprisingly Holly also enjoyed this ride and chuckled as the carriage whipped around the ends of the track. She went on this ride at least 3 times.

Fright Fantastic boys.

So after a long day our at Adventure Island we took a walk up the High Street to find the much talked about and hyped "Creams Cafe". Brandon ordered some maple crepes with an Aero milkshake, Joshua had a bubblegum flavoured ice cream with an Aero mint milkshake and Tina sampled the strawberry delight waffles. As for me, a simple chocolate cheesecake (as they had no carrot cake left) with a nice hazelnut latte. The food was good, the Cafe was very modern, but it was certainly a bit pricey for what it was.

Brandon didn't want the vanilla ice-cream that came with his crepes and so I decided to eat it. However Holly decided that I didn't have to use a spoon and that she would simply dig her hand into it and then shove her hand in my mouth!!!

Holly dipping her hand into the vanilla ice-cream.

And then showing her fingers in my mouth to feed me.

For me personally one of the most memorable moments of the day was taking Holly on her very first roller coaster - the Kiddie Koasta. She went on the ride 3 or 4 times and didn't stop smiling the whole way around. We managed to get this super photo of me and the 3 kids all enjoying the Kiddie Koasta.

A picture to treasure as Holly enjoys her first roller coaster experience.
