On Sunday myself and Joshua set our alarms bright and early
for a 6 o’clock wake-up in preparation for our first ever car boot sale. The
car was all loaded up the night before and rammed to the rafters full of old
toys and baby stuff to try and sell. So with a quick wash and clean of our
teeth, throw on some clothes, grab something to eat and then we were out of the
door.
We arrived at the Carpenters Arms boot sale around 6.30 and
was surprised by the number of stalls already set-up. Anyway we managed to get
a really good pitch and then set-up as quickly as we could. We had already been
pre-warned that people would be nosing in the back of our car and buying stuff
before we had even set-up, and sure enough that was the case.
Joshua seemed to be thriving on being a little salesman and
was making many of the transactions himself (its actually quite a cunning
tactic because people are less likely to haggle with a 7 year old!). He also
spent a lot of time practicing his mathematics and was counting our pot of
money. In the end I found I was just selling stuff for silly money simply
because I didn’t want to have to load it back in the car, take it all home and
then unload it all into the garage again.
In the end we sold about 50% of the items we took over there
but importantly sold a lot of the larger items. Overall I would say it was a
success and we certainly made a bit of extra spending money for holiday, but I
was a little disappointed not to have sold more. The car boot sale was
certainly an experience and I am not sure it is one I am keen to do again in
the immediate future. Tina is talking about taking Joshua to a different car boot
sale this coming weekend to see if they can sell the remaining items.

Its amazing that we managed to cram all of that stuff into a Mondeo Estate! |
After the boot sale we had an afternoon full of kids
parties. First both the boys were off to a gymnastics party. During this time
Holly slept and I started clearing out the garage to make way for my little
Crossfit Gym. Then once the kids got back from that party they had a half an
hour break before heading off to fellow Tiger, Max’s foam party to celebrate
being 7. It is the first foam party we have been too and I have to say it
looked really good fun and the kids had an absolute blast. I think Max’s
parents where extremely brave though having some 40+ kids in the house with a
very, very messy foam party going on in the back garden!

Then party Nr.2 which was a really fun foam party, can you spot a Joshua in this picture. |

All the kids completely smothered and hidden in foam. |

Brandon and Holly weren't quite as keen as Joshua to get right into the foam pit and preferred to just stay on the outskirts enjoying the sun. |
