Menorca 2017 Day 1

For the first time ever we decided to take the kids out of school during term time for a summer holiday this year. So many other parents at the school have done this and never received a fine and therefore as it not a critical year in term of SATS or anything we decided to do it as well. It was only a weeks holiday in Menorca but the cost difference was so great that taking them out during term time really meant the difference between us going abroad this year and not. In fact we saved so much on the holiday price by not taking it during half term that if the school do decide to fine us the £240, we are still far better off.

Anyway leading up to the holiday all 3 kiddies were getting so excited and were really looking forward to going on a plane again. We had a real early start from Gatwick with a 6am flight meaning we was up at the crack of dawn and leaving home by 1am!!! The drive to the airport was a doddle at that time and then we parked in APH and got a bus to the North Terminal. Check was no problem and before long we were sitting in Garfunkel's for a nice cooked breakfast before boarding our plane for the 2 hour flight to Mahon in Menorca.

Holly slept most of the way on the flight and the boys sat on their IPADS and did some colouring. At Menorca we had no issues with passport control and baggage and were soon on our way for a 20 min transfer to our hotel. The hotel was in the Sur Menorca in the South East and was twinned with a SplashWorld water park which was ideal for the kids (oh and all inclusive). We were about 1km away from Punta Prima beach and only a 30 min bus to the capital city Mahon (Mao).

So after an early start we were all checked in by around 11am and quickly got changed ready for a lunch and then off to explore the pool and the water park.

The count down to Menorca 2017 was over and we were off.

At Gatwick with their Trunki's ad still wearing their PJ's from the early start.

A quick family selfie whilst enjoying a cooked breakfast at Garfunkel's.

The kiddies waiting to board out Tui aeroplane.

Holly slept most of the way whilst cuddling her Teddy and Joshua's Lion pillow pet.

Beautiful blue skies and a lovely view from our hotel balcony.

Just about a sea view....

Little Holly looking pretty in pink and ready to start her holiday.

Another lovely picture of Holly.

Enjoying a quick drink by the pool side bar.

Despite the water being pretty chilly, that certainly didn't stop Joshua having fun.

Brandon preferred to just chill in the 20+ degree weather after the early start was catching up on him.

Joshua relaxing on a water sun bed in the splash park.

It was really early in the summer season which is just about starting. So there was hardly anyone in the water park and absolutely no queueing at all.

Holly, Tina and Brandon in the shallow pool.

Me and the boys about to hit the slides on the inflatable rings.

Holly and Mummy cuddles in the sun.

Joshua soaking up the sun in the splash world.

Josh and B having a race down a water slide.

Brandon bravely attempting the vertical drop slide.

Surprisingly all the water in the splash world was salty sea water!

Holly pretty much lived on water melon all holiday and absolutely loved this water melon ice lolly that was sold in Menorca.

The splash park was so empty but it was early in the season. The water was also a little chilly for the first few days of our holiday.

Brandon having just had the pirate ship dump a bucket of water all over him.

Time for the boys to take a break from the slides and warm up by soaking up some rays.

Little H still looks tiny on a sun longer.

One of the few slides Holly could go on, but even this she had to sit on one of our laps.

Tina and the kiddies in the Splash World.

Later in the evening and all dressed up and watching the sun set as we wait for our first evening meal at the hotel.
