Menorca 2017 Day 2 - Punta Prima Beach

So after the long day of travelling yesterday we all had a really good sleep on the first night and none of the kiddies were awake before about 8:30am. Most hotels don't actually cater for family's of 5 so we actually had two adjoining rooms which we shared with Holly and Tina in one room and me and the boys in the other. On the first night I drew the short straw of the sofa bed and boy was that seriously uncomfortable, leaving me tossing and turning all night. I would have been better off on the floor!!! Lesson learned here was to let the boys alternate with the sofa bed.

Anyway day 2 saw us spend the morning simply enjoying some quality family time by the pool side. The kids were playing with their inflatables and Joshua and Brandon were practising with the full face snorkels ahead of a trip to the beach later that day. For the first couple of days the resort was so quiet that we pretty much had the pool to ourselves. The entertainment crew were doing all the usual activities one of which was bottle flipping. Joshua was extremely proud of himself to be crowned the bottle flip champion of the hotel nailing 3 out of 3 flips and being awarded with a kids cocktail.

After lunch we took a roughly 1km walk to the nearby Punta Prima beach which was the closest one to our hotel. As you descended down the road towards the beach the visual of the beautiful turquoise water was breath taking and the beach is often used in the Menorca adverts. However on the day we went it was a little disappointing as the direction of the wind brought in a lot of seaweed just off the sand and then behind that was tonnes of jelly fish making snorkeling a definite no no. Me and Brandon did a little exploratory barefoot walk around a rocky part of the coastline and saw some stunning scenery, a light house, a very large anchor and generally had a good chat along the route.

When we got back to the beach we played in the sand a bit and then grabbed a bus back to the hotel for a clean up and an evening meal. As usual Holly was not eating much other than chips and pasta with mayonnaise and then water mellow. Brandon was eating a little more but being very picky. Joshua was eating plate after plate after plate and getting his moneys worth! Somehow after the evening entertainment all 3 of them still managed to polish off a hamburger from the snack bar.

Joshua chilling in the early morning sun.

Holly looking very grown up and ready to head down for breakfast.

Joshua pinched my camera and took this great selfie of him, Brandon and Holly.

Joshua tucking in to one of many plates for breakfast.

Testing out the new full face snorkels in the pool. I must admit I had a try and want to get a large one myself now, they work absolutely fab.

Brandon not wanting to brave the cold water so choosing to float on his surf board.

But then he tries to stand on it and has a spectacular wipe-out.

Brandon on the inflatable jet bike.

Joshua on the surf board.

The two boys really enjoying using their full face snorkels.

Even Holly managed to get on the jet bike and balance.

All those free drinks on the all inclusive and still Holly drinks only water! I made up for her by drinking more run and coke and having plenty of wine at meal times.

Underwater shot of Joshua with his full face snorkel mask.

Another shot of Joshua trying to dive underwater with the snorkel mask.

Me and Joshua playing around with synchronised jumps in to the pool.

This was supposed to be a star jump, not sure what Josh is doing!

Joshua being presented with his kids cocktail for being the hotel bottle flipping champion.

After lunch we took a nice stroll to Punta Prima made famous by its landmark lighthouse.

The beach was stunning but too many jelly fish and too much seaweed!!!

As you can see the beach was almost as busy as the hotel pool.

Joshua finds some shallows by the rocks where the jelly fish seem to not have inhabited yet.

Unfortunately too shallow for a snorkel though.

The famous Punta Prima lighthouse in the distance behind some beautiful turquoise coloured water and a large anchor .

Another picture of the Punta Prima lighthouse.

Me and B on a barefoot exploration of the coastline.

Just look at that beautiful view.

Having Brandon stand by the anchor gives you a feel for its size. I won't divulge what Brandon got up to behind the anchor rock!!!!

Playing in the sand we tried burying our legs to above the knee and seeing who could do the best Michael Jackson lean pose. Joshua's was pretty good if you ask me.

Brandon had a bit too much bend at the waist.

As for Holly, I think I made the hole too big and we nearly buried her alive!

Back at base and as creatures of habit we took the same table for our evening meal.

After the meal me and the boys went on a little exploration walk to Son Ganxo to check out a potential snorkeling location for tomorrow. Looks good to me.

Son Ganxo was a very secluded little bay with some houses and boats anchored up. Plenty of rocks and coral for fish life.

After the evening show somehow Joshua still had room to polish off a burger from the snack bar.

Holly tucking in to a cheeseburger (makes a change from water melon).

Brandon did his best but left about a 1/3rd of his burger.
