Menorca 2017 Day 7 - Mahon Trip & Glass Bottomed Boat Around the Harbour

Our final full day in Menorca we spent the morning making the most of the unlimited access to the Splash World and amazingly the boys finally talked Tina in to going on t some of the water slides.

Then around mid morning we jumped on a bus to the capital city, Mayon, where we headed straight for one of the worlds largest natural harbours to book our self on a glass bottomed boat tour. I think Holly was the most excited to go on the boat although I think she really wanted to go on a smaller yellow boat. So we had a really nice 2 hour cruise around the harbour taking in some amazing sites and learning some really interesting facts about the Menorcan history. I was really amazed at the extent of the British architecture and heritage forgetting that Britain once owned Menorca and Majorca before handing them back to Spain.

Half way around the tour we pulled up in a crystal clear bay where we could then go underneath the boat into the glass bottomed hull to view the sea life. There was a large array of fish but probably the most impressive was a trumpet fish. Once the boat tour was over I am ashamed to say that we went to Burger King for some lunch!!! I would have loved to try one of local cafes or bistros but with 3 kids we had to go for simplicity. After lunch we did a bit of shopping, the kids played in the park and by then siesta had finished and the buses were starting up again so that we could head back to the hotel.

So our holiday was almost over and it was time to start packing the bags and preparing for our final evenings meal. One memory from this holiday will be one of the entertainment crews songs called "picky" by Joey Montana. The entertainment did their daily poolside dance to this song and we linked it to Holly and she is always picking her nose and the chorus is basically, "picky, picky, picky, picky, picky....", although in her case we kept joking that it was picky licky!!!! Joshua on the other hand preferred a superhero song from the kids mini disco which was a new one to us.

Tina and Holly enjoying our final day spending time in Splash World.

Cheeky Holly with her water squirter.

Just love seeing the kids having fun in the sun.

Joshua found this amazing greeny/gold coloured beetle bug in the water park.

Holly, Brandon and Tina. Joshua is hidden in the picture somewhere?

Hooray, last day of holiday and Tina goes on the water slides.

Josh and Tina hit the splash pool slipping over the inflatable.

We even made Tina go on the extreme vertical slide.

Back at the hotel the kids had a quick game of this slide puck game before heading on the bus to Mahon.

The idea was to slide as many pucks through the slots at the end of the table.

Mahon had some beautiful quintessential Spanish streets.

The view looking down to the harbour.

There was an awful lot of steps to get down from the town to the harbour side.

Waiting at the harbour for our boat to come in.

This was our glass bottomed boat for a 2 hour cruise around the harbour.

We settle up on the top deck to soak up the views and catch some rays.

Josh and Brandon at the stern of the boat.

Some of the buildings around the harbour were stunning. This one was rented by Sir Richard Branson for staying at when he was in Menorca.

This place worth around €2M was my personal favourite.

Holly was a happy girl with her lime ice lolly.

The tour around the harbour was really interesting.

Some of the scenery was spectacular.

This building was an old medical retention facility built by the British. It was used to home anyone coming to the island until they were cleared of disease search as yellow fever, the plague etc.

Amazing colour along the harbour side.

As well as stunning buildings there were some pretty special boats.

The luxury yachts were incredible.

Enjoying the swings in Mahon.

The metal slides were a bit burny for Holly's legs.

Cool dude Brandon with his emoji turd cushion he had to buy because Joshua had one.

Not quite sure what this monument was for as we rushed past it on our way back to the bus station. So I took a picture anyway.

Last little play in pool once we had returned to the hotel. Joshua goes to battle with Brandon.

These were seriously powerful water squirters with a good range on them.

At didn't train much this holiday, but in order to not lose my handstand walk development I did practise a few hand stands back splashes in to the pool. Not bad for a 45 year old!

Cheeky Holly squirting me in the head.

Holly getting a real kick out of shooting her Daddy.

Holly now getting even cheekier and pushing me in the pool.

My little Princess wearing her Spanish dress.

Our final farewell to the Splash World.

Another great holiday and some quality family time comes to an end. We have all absolutely loved Menorca.
