Holly's Garden Swing Seat

As spring breaks and the blue skies and sun start to come through we can all start getting out in the gardens again. Poor little Holly has been with us nearly 4 months now and I think today was her first time in our back garden. As with most people the garden needs some work after the winter months and also we are in need of a few new garden toys to keep Holly amused this summer. So today we made the first purchase for the little girl and bought this baby swing seat which we can hang off of the boys climbing frame. In order for her to test it out I hooked it over the side of the climbing frame for now, however I want to bolt a lump of 2" x 4" hanging out of the side of the frame to mount it properly for her. Anyway she seemed very content and happy in her swing seat and enjoyed rocking gently backwards and forwards whilst looking around the back garden.

Holly takes her first go in the new garden swing seat.

Temporarily the swing is hung over the side of the climbing frame, a more permanent solution will follow shortly.

Holly holding on tight with her left hand as I rock her backwards and forwards.
The swing seat is pretty cool as it is a 3 in 1 design. At Holly's age you leave the blue, red and yellow parts connected. Then as she gets older the yellow part comes off leaving a swinging seat. Then when she is much older the red back rest comes off leaving a normal swing.

The boys were both keen to have a go but I told them no as they are too big and it is Holly's toy. So instead they decided to play with the boxes instead! Now we all know how much kids enjoy playing with boxes, but Joshua took it to a new level today. Off his own back he decided to make a robot costume with the box by cutting out arm holes and a face. Then using his own imagination he cut a door in the front to make it look like the tin man and then drew a heart shape which he sellotaped in place so that you could open the door to see tin mans heart. How clever. I think tomorrow he now wants to paint his robot.

Joshua's tin man robot with the trap door showing he has a heart.
Brandon wanted his own robot so we found a slightly smaller nappy box which I helped him cut out some arm and head holes. He then also made a trap door but chose to draw hearts on his door plus he cut out a cog shape and stuck that on the door.

Is it my boys or a scene from I-Robot 2?
