World Book Day 2014

Today was the 17th year of World Book Day with children of all ages will coming together to appreciate reading. The main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading. Abacus school allowed all of the children to dress up as characters today and then to take in their favourite books or a book related to their character which they could share with their class. Due to me being in Czech Republic and Slovakia this week we kind of forgot about this event and did little preparation. Therefore the boys were forced to dust off some old costumes to wear to school. So Joshua went as the Blue PowerRanger and Bradnon went as the black Spiderman. In terms of their books I think the boys opted to take in two of their favourites, "You Choose" and "A Fish That Could Wish". Some of the kids costumes were fantastic with Willy Wonka, Minions, Rapunzel to name just a few. The teachers all joined in and wore onesies for the days.

Both my superheros ready for battle.
Holly has made some major progress this week. For the last 3 nights on the trot now she has stayed in her cot all night long. OK she has woken up 2-3 times for her feed, but once the feed is done she is put back down in her cot and goes to sleep. Tina also got Holly weighed recently and the little girl is now up to 11lb 5oz (from 10lb) - whilst this sounds an impressive weight gain she apparently has dropped down on one of the weight curves, but she is healthy, she is gaining weight, so there are no alarm bells yet.
