Chelsea Training Day & Annual Forest Glade Presentation Day.

Today was another big day in the football calendar as it was a Chelsea training day for both the boys followed by the annual club presentations. The Chelsea training was a fantastic opportunity for all the boys to learn some new stuff from some very experienced coaches and for us Forest Glade coaches to get some good tips and ideas from the Chelsea boys. Brandon's class stuck to the normal hour long session, however Joshua's Under 6 group did about an hour and 45 mins training followed by about an hour of mini World Cup games amongst each other.

All the Under 6's line up in anticipation for the Chelsea coaching to start.

The boys just got out on the pitch when the heavens absolutely ripped open as what appeared to be a tropical thunderstorm blew over. Due to health and safety all of the kids were immediately brought under shelter until the risk of lightning was gone. Whilst under the gazebos the Chelsea coaches kept all the kids entertained by teaching them the YaYa Toure chant which is one of those really annoying little ditto's which has now been stuck in my head all day!

Forest Glade Under 6's seek shelter from the thunderstorm.

Joshua and Ethan decide it is more fun getting wet and risking getting hit by lightning!

After about 15 mins the football is back on and Brandon starts warming up on the sidelines.

Brandon's training starts and he warms up running around doing headers like Frank Lampard kicks with the Chelsea coaches.

Then practising their goal keeper dives in the nice wet grass.
For the Under 5's the presentation event after the Chelsea training was a big deal as it was to be their first annual Forest Glade presentation. Joshua is now old hat having been to last years and would subsequently be collecting his second football trophy.

After their session Brandon's Under 5's team lines up for their annual presentation trophy.

Brandon and Zac. You wouldn't believe they are the same school year looking at the height difference!
After the Under 5 presentation it is time for our Under 6's. e decide to split them into their three teams of Leopards, Tigers and Lions so that their specific coaches can hand over the awards. By now the weather had completely changed and the sun was beaming down at about 24 degrees. The boys were all red faced having been running around for 3 hours + playing football.

Joshua lines up in the middle row with the Under 6 Tigers.

Joshua collects his trophy as me and coach Lee present them to all of the Tigers.

Our confirmed Tigers team for 2014-2015 season. L-R: Joshua, Ryan, Alfie, Ethan, Max, Lorne and Alex. A great bunch of kids and an exciting team.

Another team picture of all of us. Who can believe we have been together over 2 years now.
I am very proud of both the boys today. They have both showed massive improvements over the last year and have hardly missed a single training session. They really enjoy their football and have played through ice, snow, rain, sun, sleet, wind and everything else nature has thrown at them. So we start to think about winding down for the summer, but for now they can enjoy their well earnt trophies for a years hard work.

A proud Dad (football coach) with Joshua and Brandon.
