Cyprus Holiday Day 10 - Jet Biking

Our first job of the day for day 10 was a quick visit to the beach. Why? Well as you may recall me and Joshua went snorkeling/diving the previous day and had picked up some shells from the seabed. When Joshua woke up he went to pick up one of his shells and nearly threw it half way across our hotel room as he realised there was something moving inside it. It turned out that a poor little hermit crab had been tucked away in an air conditioned hotel room all night and needed to desperately get back to his home in the sea.

Our little hermit crab friend who had crashed out in out hotel room for the night.
Once breakfast was out of the way the boys were both desperate to do the water aerobics again before we headed down to the water sports to see if we could have a jet bike ride today.

Me and the boys doing a bit of stretching.

A good arm workout as we slap the surface of the water.

Some ab work as we ride the bike motion whilst sitting on the side of the pool.
After our aerobics we headed down to the beach with the boys friend, James, and his Dad Mick to try our hand at some jet biking. The bikes they used were new this season and had something like 135bhp which translated to some scary, hair raising moments out on the waves. I was quite surprised that I could fairly easy reach around both boys to grab the handle bars (even with us all wearing life jackets), but it was quite difficult to get 3 pairs of hands on the handle bars.

We idled the bike out passed the safety buoy and then I hadn't realised that my hand was nowhere near the throttle, but Joshua and Brandon's was. Needless to say they immediately went full throttle and we nearly took off with me only just managing to hang on!!!! I tried screaming at them to back off the throttle but they couldn't hear over the noise plus they were both shouting and screaming with the excitement and thrill of the speed!!! God only knows how we didn't all end up getting dumped in the sea. After 10 mins Brandon had enough as he had a blister on his hand where we were trying to squeeze 3 pairs of hands on the handle bars. So we dropped him off at shore and then me and Joshua went out for another 10 mins and really let rip doing donuts, figure 8's etc.

Joshua was absolutely hooked on the jet bike and for the rest of the holiday all he kept on about is how we need to "google" the price so we can buy one when we get home. Something tells me the single seater canoe he has wanted for 2 years is now off his radar as he has his eye on something just a bit quicker!

Great shot of me and the boys as we head out to sea for a jet bike experience.

Race on with Mick and James.

After 10 mins we dropped Brandon off and it was just me and Joshua for the second half.
We managed to take a walk out of the resort in the evening to do a bit of souvenir shopping and have a look around. Brandon bought this little blue box to keep his necklace and bracelet in! Outside one of the shops we saw a load of large film characters which the boys enjoyed getting their pictures taken with.

Joshua and Brandon with Optimus Prime.

Joshua flexes his muscles with the Hluk whilst the Joker looks on.

Brandon with Sonic The Hedgehog.
After the mini disco tonight Joshua had his turn as the bingo boy and got to sit on stage with Anis and help call out the bingo numbers. Despite him being a son of mine (which means he is a good cheat), we were no luckier than previous nights and didn't win a penny.

James, Joshua and Brandon messing around on the stage.

The rest of Day 10 was a bit of a nervous, scary time as Holly got quite ill. In the afternoon she slept for an abnormally long time and we never really gave it much thought as we assumed it was the heat and just the holiday all catching up with her. Then we got back to our room to get cleaned up for dinner and noticed she was burning up badly. We checked her temperature and it was touching 39 degrees. So out with the Calpol and about an hour later she was back to her normal self. We took her to dinner and she ate a whole bowl of soup and then polished off a bottle of milk, so we were happy that she had eaten and had fluids inside her.
However an hour or so later and once again her temperature was rising and she was just screaming and screaming. At this point you start worrying about Doctors, quality of health care, checking your insurance docs etc.etc. At home your know your local GP and if the worst comes to the worst you head down A&E, but in a different country you don't have that same level of comfort. Fortunately we kept up Calpol and after a very bad night where Holly finally got to sleep at 4.30am, the little girl seemed to be on the mend. By morning time it was all gone and she was giggling away and stuffing her face with scrambled eggs, beans and sausage again. Panic over.

Me cuddling a very poorly and very hot baby girl. Feeling helpless and a bit worried.
