Tenerife Day 11 - Medieval Knights

Day 11. We started the day today by just chilling out having a lazy day by the pools. We needed a bit of down time plus we knew we had a very late night again at Medieval Times dinner show. Holly found an inflatable Barbie ring at the pool and clearly she had been watching us at the water park as she carried it to the top of the slide and then sat down in the ring waiting to be pushed down. She loved the ring and it really helped keep her head above water when she went down the slide.

In the afternoon Tina and Holly went for a nap so me and the boys went for a beach run which turned out to be hard work. I know it was hot out there but Joshua couldn't even manage a light jog after about 10 mins. We ran along the coast in the opposite direction to Adege to try and seek out another beach with inflatables. With water running low the boys didn't quite make it there and we ended up running back through the air conditioned mall to try and cool them both down a bit.

After a light snack for dinner we headed to Medieval Nights which was just one of the best evenings out as a family that we have ever had. All the kids thoroughly enjoyed shouting for our purple night whilst smashing their metal cups and plates together to make as much noise as possible. It was everything you tell them not to do at the dinner table at home including eating with your fingers. Our purple night lost in the end by being stabbed in the nuts by the yellow night who ultimately went on to lose against the black night. Brandon was full of questions and kept worrying that it was real and the knights were really being stabbed and dying. The show was an awesome evening out and even Holly was shouting and clapping.

My dinner there entailed a bowl of soup (which you had to drink from the bowl), then the main course was one potato with a whole chicken, followed by a tub of ice cream. The ice cream was the only thing that they gave you cutlery for as you had a little plastic spoon. After the main show there was a chance to get your picture with the knight's plus there was a second mini show with some Brazilian guys performing some capoeira and gymnastics type routine plus some hand drums.

Holly found this little pink barbie ring by the pool area.

She had obviously been watching everyone closely at the water park as she knew exactly what it was for.

Holly having a swim around with her floaty ring.

Out Holly gets ready for another ride down the water slide.

Cute little Holly posing next to a picture of the hotel mascot.

Brandon practising his balancing skills by standing on Joshie's jetski.

And over he goes.

Afternoon time and I took the boys out for a run. We stopped off in a few locations to take some pictures.

At the entrance to the castle and we are greeted by a knight on a horse. We had to wear the purple tunics as we were supporting the purple knight for the show.

The boys cross the draw bridge for an amazing evenings entertainment.

Picture of the knight and his horse.

The castle looked beautiful in the later afternoon sun.

Two Kings and a Knight.

Inside the main entrance to the castle.

My little King with the crown.

What castle is complete without a princess.

Brandon loving smashing his metal bowl on the tables as everyone chants for their respective knights.

Joshua needed no encouragement to make some noise.

Brandon discovered that smashing two bowls together also makes lots of noise.

The King and the Princess. Holly wouldn't part with her bread roll.

Cheering on our purple knight as he gets ready for battle.

Joshua getting fed up with playing with the bowls and now wanting some food or the show to start.

Me trying to keep the kids entertained as we wait for our food.

The show starts and all the knights come out in to the arena.

The pictures don't capture the noise and atmosphere in the arena.

Here is my starter for the evening. No spoon though!!

Our purple knight enters into the arena.

Now that's what I call a main course. One potato and a whole chicken.

Our purple and yellow knights go to battle.

Our purple knight was a bit of a flop, he lost the jousting and then lost his first fight in the arena.

Me getting stuck into my chicken.Yum.

The yellow knight looks down on our beaten purple knight.

After an unusual turn of events the purple knight ends up getting the yellow knight chained up.

But then went on to lose against the black knight and lands himself in a hanging cage.

Out come some more horses as part of the show.

The end of a fantastic show and the knights all circle the arena giving the kids high fives.

Joshua and Brandon with our purple knight.

Our friendly purple knight took a liking to our princess and managed to get a high five from her.

The boys getting their picture with the enemy, the yellow knight.

The kiddies get a picture taken with the King. Amazingly Holly went to him, although she soon started screaming.

Our family picture taken at Medieval Knight Tenerife.
