Forest Glade Presentation Day 2018

Having just got back from Spain a day earlier we were straight back in to the busy schedule with the Forest Glade annual presentation day yesterday. The season seems to have gone so quickly and the U9's Tigers have progressed and grown so much over the year.

As always myself and my assistant coach Dave had a nightmare deciding on the 3 main awards. You can pretty much argue a case for all nine boys, but with only 3 available there will always be 6 disappointed lads. This year the Managers Players award went to Kye, the Most Improved went to Connor and the Clubman award went to Sully.

Brandon has done very good this year and really grown in to a defensive player. He could easily have been awarded Most Improved or the Clubman, however I hate to show bias towards my own children. A lot of the parents commented that he would be worthy of the Most Improved player. There are only 2 players on the team that have never received an annual award (Brandon and Charlie) and I spoke to both of them yesterday to assure them they are on the right path and if the carry on progressing like they have this year, then next year could be their year to shine for one of the awards. Obviously all the boys get their annual trophy anyway.

For Joshua the presentation day was the sad end to an era at Forest Glade for him. Having been at the club since the U5's yesterday was his last year on a team. Obviously everyone knows the sad story about how his team was managed last year resulting in the team folding at the end of the season. So this year Joshua has been training with the Puma's (coached by Matt), but he really hasn't settled and blended in with the already established team and therefore won't be signing for them next season.

We are looking at this as a positive and a chance for Josh to try something else, as one door shuts another one opens. We have told him this is by no means the end of his football as he still plays for the school team and can always go back to a football club at a later date if he really wants too, he is still young and has the world at his feet.

Myself and coach Dave with the U9 Tigers, receiving their annual trophies. A few seconds prior to this they were all "flossing" which was a challenge the club gave them for their team picture in order to earn a bag of sweets!

The U9 Tiger's have all grown so much this year. Sully has had a fantastic first year with us.

Another picture of the coaches, players and all their awards.

Every year they insist on doing a silly picture.

Joshua was awarded an annual trophy with the Puma's, but this is now the end of Forest Glade football for him.
