La Pinada, Salou, Spain 2018 Day 3 - Aquapolis Water Park

With no let up or recovery from Portventura yesterday, day 3 was another very busy and exhausting day as we hit the Aquapolis water park for the day. With our Tui holiday package we had unlimited access to the waterpark which was a pleasant 15 minute walk through the hotel complex and then along the beach.

What we didn't realise was that as it is still slightly off season and with the Spanish times and late Siesta breaks the waterpark didn't open until 11am! So whilst walking along the beach side shops the boys found some Fortnite t-shirts which they bought out of the money which Auntie Nicky gave them for holiday. After a bit of shopping we then took a little stroll on the beach to kill time until the water park opened.

When we left the hotel Holly wouldn't listen to us and insisted on taking her teddy (also known as T-D-Y) with her. We warned her not to take it as she might lose it. Well you can guess what happened - when we got back to the hotel later that day and emptied all the bags there was no T-D-Y!!!!!!! We can only assume Holly lost it on the beach as we don't recall her having it in the waterpark. She was very, very upset but she did understand that it was lost and that it was her fault. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise because she is at an age where we wanted to lose the T-D-Y anyway and we had already discussed her handing it to Baby Brickwood. Amazingly Holly slept really well without T-D-Y and stopped asking for it after 2 nights, but then we did replace it with her Estivee teddy which she bought out of her money (instead of the Fortnite T-shirt).

Anyway the water park was really amazing and they had added a few new slides from when we last went 7 years ago. The dolphin show had also changed and has become much more of a learning/educational experience than a dolphin show with all the tricks. I assume this change has come about due to animal welfare and cruelty to animals in captivity. Anyway over the course of these holiday blog updates you will see lots of piccies from the waterpark as we spent a lot of time then due to our unlimited access.

Waiting for Aquapolis top open and the boys wearing their new Fortnite t-shirts.

Souvenir picture taken at the entrance to the water park.

Lovely picture of our 3 kiddies taken by one of the photographers in Aqupolis.

Let the fun begin.

Joshua immediately jumped on the tray water slide (unfortunately Brandon was not tall enough).

At the bottom you glide across the surface of the water hardly getting wet at all.

Brandon was big enough for the bowl so his first slide was this one.

That little dot at the bottom is Brandon.

View across the water park from on top of the bowl ride.

Joshua's turn next, looks like he is being sent down backwards!

Nice picture of the 3 kiddies on the large green inflatable used on the oval slide.

Holly helping Tina carry the inflatable up the hill.

This was a great ride as all 5 of us could go on this one with only a 1m height restriction.

Joshua helping the girls to get out of the inflatable.

Me and the kiddies ready to head down the water rapids ride.

Me and Holly coming out of the black hole. She loved this ride and screamed her head off all the way down.

Josh and B follow us down the black hole.

Joshua and B playing on the rings in the 3m deep pool.

I managed to get the record for crossing the rings in about 20 seconds or so. The last 2 are quite hard to stretch up for.

Holly and Tina coming out of the black hole.

I guess Tina thought the water was a bit cold! Holly is all smiles.

Holly with my "brother from another mother" - aka a shark friend.

Josh absolutely destroying me on a race down the tray ride.

Joshua being eaten by a shark.

Brandon off on a slide so only me, Holly and Josh. After 2 weeks of all inclusive my abs won't look like that anymore.

Holly loved the children's play area as well as the thrill rides that she was big enough to go on.

The water swings were a new addition from last time we were in Salou.

Holly enjoying some of the smaller toddler slides.

There's a happy girl in a water park (at this point she had no idea T-D-Y was missing).

Holly running back up the hill for another go on a slide.

All the animals had little levers that you could pump to squirt water out of their mouths.

A really small slide.

Holly giving Josh and good soaking from a water jet out of a tree.

Joshua is curled up in that bowl getting a proper good soaking.

This was out attempt at recreating a photo which I took 7 years ago when the two boys were about 3-4 years old. They are certainly a lot heavier now and I think if we go back in 7 years time they will have to lift me.

The updated 2018 version of this picture with Holly in the frame, she didn't want her picture taken though!

She wanted to get on more slides.

The boys checking out the distance to get back home.

Later in the afternoon these two yellow slides opened but only me and Josh could go on these. The blue ones next to this didn't open up all the time we were out in Spain.

Joshua traversing the cargo net over the 3m pool.

Brandon playing in the children's play area.

B coming down one of the smaller slides.

At 4pm we ducked out of the sun to go and watch the dolphin show.

Spectacular view as about 8 or 9 dolphins were on display.

Joshua and Brandon getting close to the dolphin tank after the show.

Holly getting a great view of this dolphin, looks like she has made a friend.

Yep the dolphins definitely liked coming over to see Holly.

Despite being outside the tank you can get some great shots of the bottlenose dolphins.

Another one.....

And one more for luck.

After a busy day Holly gets all dressed up pretty ready for dinner out again.

At the mini disco Holly gets to meet Estivee for the first time and requests a photo giving him a big cuddle.

Night draws in, the pool lights up and a very tired family turn in after just 3 days!
