Beaver Scout Promise Ceromony (Investiture into 1st Wickford Lillyput)

What a busy Monday today has been for Joshua. It all started with an early wake up to get ready for his pre-school dodge ball club which him and Brandon go too. Then just after lunch was his first full dress rehearsal of his Xmas school play. Tina got to attend this performance and I get the pleasure of seeing the evening performance this Thursday. So I can't write too much about the Xmas play at this point in time, but only share a few pictures which Tina took. As everyone already knows Joshua was part of the band.

Joshua all dressed up in shirt and bow tie. How handsome.

He had various instruments to play from drums, to bells etx.

Love the Dickie bow tie.

As if all of that wasn't enough Joshua also had his Beaver Scout Investiture tonight. The Investiture is a promise ceremony is where new Beaver Scouts make their Promise soon after they join the Colony and have completed the requirements of the Beaver Scout Membership Badge. The Colony and its leaders stand in a circle. The Beaver Scout Leader stands next to the new Members and explains that they are going to become Beaver Scouts today. Everyone makes the Scout sign and says the Beaver Scout Promise together. Colonies often choose to have their Beaver Scout flag at the ceremony and Joshua got to hold the Wickford flag. Then the Beaver Scout Leader welcomes the new Beaver Scout(s) into the Colony and the worldwide Family of Scouts. The new Beaver Scout(s) receive their World Membership Badge, County/Area/Region and District badges, Group scarf, woggle and the Group name tape.

The four newest members line up for their investiture and make the scout sign.

Joshua gets presented with his scout scarf and woggle.

The Beaver Scout Promise is:

"I promise to do my best,
To be kind and helpful,
And to love God."

Now Tina has a job to do to sew on his first four badges onto his Beaver jumper.

Joshua is now officially a member of the 1st Wickford Lillyput Beaver Scouts.

I am so proud Joshua is enjoying Beaver Scouts. I hope he sticks with it and I hope Brandon starts next year as well.
